This was easy to program. I used the direct way of entering codes. I have a mix of older and newer devices and everything worked. For the Apple TV, one of the codes worked but remember it isn’t the Power button, it is the home button and the arrows around ok. I was getting frustrated and then figured that part out. The disappointment is the the app buttons are not programmable. While it does say that, it does not tell you what you are getting. In the image of the description, it says Netflix, Hulu and Amazon. Well I only got one of those 3. It actually came with Netflix Google Play and YouTube. I was really disappointed in that but it works so well otherwise it still got a 4. ... show more

I have a TCL ROKU 49" TV that is a few years old, and the standard remote failed me, or so I thought. I bought a brand new one. And it also failed. There was some kind of lack of connection between the TV and the stock remotes. I went through the torture of using those phone apps to get the TV to even turn on. The amount of ads they throw at you is insane, and most of these apps don't even work. This GE remote saved the day. It accepted the very first code I entered from the instruction sheet and immediately worked. I then went to see if my twenty year old Harmon Kardon stereo receiver would work with this. Yes. This worked on my 2009 Toshiba TV with ease, using the auto code finder, and connected to my new Roku Express by using the code "2014". The backlight is a bit too bright for me, but it's actually pretty useful. Because of this backlight, it does take AA batteries. Good remote. Debating on getting one for the bedroom the only reason it's four stars instead of 5 is the remote codes are misleading for the onn tv. Onn users will probably think it doesn't work, but use the roku tv remote codes instead. They should have just put the same codes for onn as they did roku tv. ... show more

This remote has been a huge game changer for us! We cut the cord and use a multitude of streaming apps (some of which are on a Roku and others that are on the TV directly). I had never programmed a remote before and was intimidated, but the instructions were super easy to follow. I didn't know my device's #, or even that they had them, going in to the process. This is a great remote. Sturdy, well-made. The buttons press easily. The backlight comes on and lights the entire remote. It recognized my Samsung smart tv with no problem. I didn't even have to worry about a code.

Have had 4 others just like this, all the other colors. When I went to put my 2 AAA batteries into it? Surprise!!! It does not use AAA batteries, it uses 2 AA Batteries. This is the only 1 that is backlit, but for us, we do not need that feature. This makes it much heavier, thus more cumbersome for us to use. Be aware if weight is an issue and AA batteries in place of AAA batteries. I am disappointed. ... show more
