This alarm is the best way to add some security to your home without breaking the bank. I ordered two for my front and back door. It comes with everything you need to install the alarms. The adhesive is strong enough to stay glued on the surface, whether it is the moulding or the door itself. The first few times, i had to readjust the positioning and it was still able to stick securely. The sound of the alarm is loud enough to alert neighbors. It can scare pets, so that should be a consideration when purchasing. I either leave the mode either off or Alarm. The Chime sound is not as loud but can still scare pets. I believe this is a great solution for anyone on a budget, especially those renting. Overall, i would recommend this product for those who want something simple that still gets the job done. ... show more

I liked how easy this product is to install, just a quick and simple sticky on to the door and door frame. I find that the Chime setting is far more useful than the Alarm setting, the noise is louder

This product was purchased to keep my little escape artist inside the house. We installed locks he can't reach but, since other people go in and out, there's no way to guarantee they stay locked ALL the time. This handy device helps fill the gap by making sure mama knows EVERY time someone goes through the door! It's VERY easy to install -- if you don't have any trim around your door. If you have trim, you'll need to either forego the alarm or cut into the trim to make a space, because this needs to sit flush. But assuming you have the space for it, just make sure the area is clean and dry and stick it on with the (included) adhesive foam strips. It comes with batteries already installed; you'll just need to remove the piece of plastic preventing them from making contact so they don't burn out prior to purchase. They are, however, some weird button batteries, so when it's time to replace them, they can't be replaced with a trusty AAA. The overall device -- both pieces -- is a little smaller than I had anticipated. I'd say it's a little smaller than two side-by-side boxes of matches. It has three settings: off, alarm, and chime. Off is pretty self-explanatory. I assume if it's set to alarm, it will go off continuously when the door or window is opened. We keep it set on chime, so it goes off once every time the door is opened. It makes a very loud, obnoxious digital chiming sound; you've probably heard it if you've ever been in a store that announces your presence with an electronic chime. It isn't a very pleasant sound if you're standing right beside it, but I'm able to hear the downstairs door from upstairs, so there are benefits to its being as loud as it is. I wish it were designed to use a AAA battery, because the button batteries are exceptionally hazardous around children, but I have no complaints about the alarm's functionality. ... show more

Small price to pay for peace of mind and easy to install: I used my own double sided tape and not the 3M tape provided. I did use the 3M square(s) under the alarm to increase it's height for some windows. They come with button batteries installed. Just open the battery compartment, hold your finger over the batteries, and pull out the clear tab. Next, apply tape to the flat side of the small oblong piece and affix it to the window frame with the ARROW pointed toward the alarm. Apply tape to the side of the alarm with the ARROW (careful that you do not apply tape over the lid to the battery compartment!). Turn alarm on and slide the unit back and forth under the affixed piece to determine the proper position. Once located, remove the film over the tape and affix. Note: You may need to apply 3M piece(s) to the bottom of the alarm to raise it's height (although do not remove the film on the very bottom or it will not slide back and forth :-). These little devices are loud enough to wake you up if someone tries to break in through a window. They are also quite sensitive to touch (i.e. lowering my blinds onto them will activate the alarm) so I imagine they would also work if someone tried to break the window. This is only one of many small things we can and should do to protect ourselves and our home. ... show more

We bought these alarms in order to be notified when our sliding glass doors are opened. While they work, the alarm is very loud. I wish there was a way to turn it down, just a touch.
