We purchased this stackable washer dryer combo in May 2024. The washer works fine. But as other reviews note, the dryer has an issue where it thinks the door is open and it won't function aka "door mode". The retailer would not refund us because we didn't catch the issue until after the 48 hour time limit to return defective appliances. Smart on their part. Then GE treated us to a 6 month experience closer to torture than customer support. We ultimately cycled through the original dryer and 4 replacements. All did door mode. Weeks passed with service techs showing up, not knowing how to fix door mode, and replacements being shipped. We couldn't get a replacement without a tech coming to our house to shrug their shoulders first. No appointments were made for deliveries. Installers would just show up with new machines and hopefully we were home. Service techs could not fix the issue and were generally angry with their job. But the worst was dealing with GE's customer support. Half hour to hour long hold times. Dropped calls. Psychotic hold music. Rude customer support. They treated us like we were annoying them because the product they sold us wouldn't work. And neither would any replacements. We probably wasted 100 hours dealing with a new appliance that we paid almost $1k for. In the end, after 5 dryers, GE finally agreed to refund us--for the dryer ONLY. So I have a stackable washer that I can't get a matching functional dryer for. And I can't just get another brand dryer to go with it because I don't have the space for a side by side setup. So I'm out the money paid for the washer, since without the dryer it is useless to me. As a cherry on top of the whole terrible experience, GE refuses to refund me for the $70 stacking kit, since its not defective--although I can't get a functioning dryer from them to stack with it. Nice! The craziest thing of all, is it must have cost GE more money to send out over a dozen service techs, and ship 5 dryers, in addition to whatever they pay their customer service people, than to just refund us what we paid for the washer and dryer to begin with. My only conclusion is they would rather waste their own money than make their customers happy. Do not buy this washer/dryer. Do not buy anything from GE. ... show more

    • Good Dryer if you read the manual
Once I read the manual, I knew not to set it on”eDry” (energy efficiency) If you set it on Mixed it does a Great job and will dry your clothes great. This dryer is new to me, so I have not tried all the settings. It all depends on what you are trying to dry, but keep it off eDry from to keep yourself from being frustrated. ... show more

    • Truly junk from the start; we really need negative star ratings for this garbage
Our new dryer has a clothes shredding feature; a piece of metal that sticks out into the drum and catches clothes tumbling and rips them to shreds. Can provide that "totally well worn" look so many seem to crave these days. Truly, this dryer should be ILLEGAL to sell. GE takes ZERO responsibility, they won't even come look at it as part of their warranty. Their "repair website" has been down since August 2024 and clearly they have no plans to remedy that. So their website matches their product. My recommendation is that us consumers should totally boycott ALL GE products; never buy them again and see this company go to the corporate dust bin, where it belongs. ... show more

The wetness sensor is terrible. The dryer does NOT stop when the clothes are dry. Your clothes WILL shrink.

    • worst dryer ever !
This dryer is worse than my 20 year old dryer that was the same size. much worse. It barely gets hot and it has an automatic sensor to turn off when the clothes are supposedly dry but it is almost always wrong. the clothes are rarely dry after one cycle, in fact it can take up to 2 to 3 hours to dry one blanket or set of sheets. is the worst dryer i have ever owned. don't buy it . ... show more
