Very nice but not the size listed in the description (but size is deceptive)

Update: I was about to return my Gator case, sadly because except for size it was exactly what I wanted. I thought maybe I could crush the foam at each end of the case enough to make it fit my guitar. Put the guitar in the case to see how much to squish and the guitar fell right into place. What happened? I put the headstock in first this time. The foam is hollowed out more at that end near the the bottom of the case (at least I think that's what's going on). If I put the bottom neck strap pin in first, in the space hollowed out for it, the headstock does not fit at the other end. Needs another inch or so before it will go in. If I put the headstock end in first, everything lines up better and I have a VERY snug fit. So I'm increasing my stars from 2 to 5 (I'm reviewing the case, NOT the packaging). No longer returning, happy again. Gator also responded to my comment, very important to see that they care. So, your mileage may vary, but this case works for me. Original review: Description says it holds a guitar up to 39.5" long, with body length up to 19". My guitar is that size (I measured before buying). Body length dimension is about 1/2" too short and overall length is an inch too short. My guitar doesn't fit even though it matches the the size listed. Guitar is a Schecter Omen 6 extreme. Very disappointed the description is so misleading (or they can't control their sizes, or someone decided to cut costs). Now I need to go through the hassle of returning it and picking out a different case. One reason I chose this case was because dimensions were given in the description. I won't trust Gator again (same dimensions are listed on other sites, so it's not an Amazon fault). Case seemed to be made well and was just what I wanted: lightweight and sturdy with some storage space inside for pedals, tuner, slides, picks, recorder, etc., and a pocket outside for music books and note sheets. Looks great also. If you have a smaller guitar this might be a perfect choice. Packaging was bad. It was shipped in a very large box and the tape was not holding the flaps shut by the time it arrived. Case could have easily fallen out of box and it was so loose that case was scuffed up from rubbing against the cardboard box. Why they bothered to put a single piece of crumpled paper in the box I'll never know; maybe there was more that fell out. ... show more

Order arrived in 7 days. Excited for case to arrive. Opened box and was not disappointed. For the price, this is a very nice case. Velvet lined, plenty of room for gear, and a spacious outer zip up pocket. Case was a lot more sturdier than I was expecting. Its not flimsy by any means. Sturdy enough for a all purpose general guitar case. It will protect your guitar. All of my Stratocaster guitars fit this case. My 72 Strat to my Hot Rails Strat all fit perfectly with no shifting around. For giggles, I saw if my Schecter Omen-6 would fit, and it did! If you are thinking of a 'bag' type case, do yourself a favor and go with this case. You won't be disappointed. ... show more

A nice compromise between a gig bag and a hard case.

I am not a professional guitarist: I do not fly with guitars. I do not throw them in the back of vans for cross country tours. I usually keep them at home and occasionally take them to friends houses for jam sessions. Because of this I've never felt the need to get a hard-shell case, much less one that is made for flight luggage. That being said, flimsy gig-bags tend to make me cringe. I love my guitar and the thought of giving it little to no support gives me pause. But what to do? I've never seen something that rides the line between these two extremes. Well, now I have and I am happy I bought this. This Gator polyfoam case is fantastically sturdy, and surprisingly light for its size. Now I have all of the benefits of a hardshell case, including neck support, storage, and rigidity, coupled with the lightness of a gig bag. Would I trust this case in an airplane cargo hold or tossed in the back of a gear van going across country? Hell no. But then again, as explained before, that is not what I do so I don't have to worry about this. As an amateur hobbyist guitarist I think this case lines up perfectly with my needs. ... show more

Best protection, versatility and value in a soft guitar case.

This is the third lightweight Gator guitar case I have purchased, the second from Amazon and I will be buying more in the future. For the guitar hobbyist, student, or someone who may do a gig every now and then ( church, or praise band? ) this guitar case offers the best protection and value for money. It is much better than the Fender and other more expensive hard cases I own. An added plus is it will fit a variety of Strat-Tele styles and others. Neck support is excellent. It is also very discreet and inconspicuous so it doesn't attract unwanted attention. I think you'll like it. ... show more

Loved it except for size (rectangular size)

OK, so I just moved on from this case and in some ways I miss it. I thought I should come back and put some review info in here. This is a fine case. I like it. I can't yet bring myself to let it go. The only problem I had with it was its size. It is physically very big due to the rectangular size. The location where the shoulder strap connects always bothered me too as I had to unhook one side every time I opened the case. I will add I replaced the shoulder strap immediately upon its arrival cause the one which came with it was cheap. Adequate I guess but minimal. OK, that is most of the negatives. I still liked it and and used it regularly. It protected my guitar well (PRS Semi Hollow just fit) and I really liked the inside dual storage boxes on each side of the neck. I used the outside pouches heavily also. I replaced it for one reason only, it is big. Note I didn't say too big cause you might love it. Now, I've moved to another case with backpack straps. I miss the shoulder strap a lot and will likely customize the new one to add one soon if I stick with it. The two things I miss most about it now are the inside storage which my new case does not have AND the weight. This thing is so light that you simply get used to it and don't realize how light it is. Everything else I carry now seems very heavy. I may go back. Only time will tell. For the price, I think this is an excellent case. Maybe I'll buy another guitar just so I can justify keeping it ;-) ... show more

Really nice case.

I bought this case for my Squire Affinity Stratocaster & it fits perfectly! The case is hard on the outside with a nice plush interior. It holds my guitar in place very nicely. It’s pretty lightweight too. I have hard cases for a few of my other guitars & they are much heavier. It’s perfect for storage & as a gig bag. I’m very happy with it. Gator cases rock! ... show more

Lightweight but sturdy!!!

I have always carried my guitars in hard sided cases to keep them protected. But those can get very heavy, especially taking those to and from stages and gigs. So I wanted something that was sturdy but lightweight and this has done it for me! I don’t like gig bags because those do not protect the neck very well at least not the cheaper ones. This one does the job, protects the guitar, protects the neck and has places for accessories and a pocket on the outside. It comes with the shoulder strap, but I found that not to work very well. Superb protection for Stratocaster & Telecaster

Strong recommendation for this Gator lightweight hybrid case. It combines the light weight of a gig bag with all the padding and protection of a hardshell case. Not intended for checking on an airline, it is perfect for pros and armatures to protect their guitar at home or going to gigs. It perfectly fits Stratocaster and Telecaster style guitars with enough, but not too much room. BTW, this this my second Gator guitar protection product.
