These thermostats are designed nowadays to stick open if there is a problem instead of closed. The old tstat was sticking open but not fully, and in cold temps especially I could drive 100 miles and the car still would not be up to temp, causing my heater to underperform and car to run rich (more fuel). Very good investment - thermostat worked and I hope it will give me at least a few years of use. I take a lot of small trips, which could be why the previous one wore out. I examined the previous and sure enough there was an inner gasket which was disintegrating and broken in half. And to say the least, no leaks! Good buy. ... show more

Works great; it fixed the problems that I was having in my Saturn Aura with the 3.5L V6. I found that my old thermostat was missing a portion of the seal that was letting a small amount of coolant flow through when it was closed. Because of this, the computer recognized that it wasn't heating up as it should and dropped the displayed temperature to cold in addition to giving me a check engine light.
