  • Fixed my Mazda error code, a pain to install
Had a P0126 error on my 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 and Youtube informed me this part was the problem. Videos looked so simple..... The part did exactly what it was supposed to and the error has gone away, but dang it was a pain to install. The engine coolant has to be completely drained, and to get to the drain I had to remove the entire skid plate with a billion screws. And then contorting my arms and hands to get to the 3 bolts and undo the clamps on the hoses... I don't think my shoulder will ever be the same. So, the part is awesome, but the install procedure....unless you're really used to this stuff....hire a mechanic ... show more

  • Still working to this day
Installed this in my 2009 Mazda 6 back in 2020 and still working great to this day. Was insanely hard to install but that's not the fault of the product, more of the fault of the placement of the thermostat on the engine.

  • Great replacement but learn from my mistakes. 2006 Ford Focus
Great product. Came on time. Perfect fit. If you're planning on doing the work yourself, a couple tips. I replaced my thermostat on a 2006 Ford Focus. The positioning of the existing part doesn't leave much room to navigate. I tried a few things before I did the following and the process was a breeze. You need to drain the radiator and remove the coolant reservoir and (depending on your hand size) pop the belt off the power steering pump. took the grill off and was able to remove the passenger side headlight and had lots more access. I'll never get the 2.5 hours of trying back, but after the headlight was out, the project went like a dream. Once I got the stat in, i cleared the engine codes and haven't had any issues in the past 3 weeks. ... show more

  • Works great months later
I installed this in my Mazdaspeed 6 in summer and it has held up through a Wisconsin winter so far. Definitely worth the purchase. Good part to install when the intake manifold is off while you're doing injectors and valve cleaning.

  • It's a doable repair. Save a couple hundred bucks!
I installed this on my 2005 Mazda 6 2.3 liter, 150,000 miles. The OEM Thermostat was stuck open and it was running super cold and I got a check engine light and trouble code for the coolant temperature sensor not warming up fast enough. It wasn't easy, but not impossible, either. At first I thought it was not working and stuck closed, but I realized that it wasn't opening like it should because I had air trapped behind it. It ran really hot for a couple minutes and popped open. Then I let it cool. Topped off the coolant and ran it again and it is functioning perfectly now. Engine light gone. I'm back in business. ... show more

  • Not Gates branded, received MotoRad part
I guess MotoRad is a Gates supplier? Anyway, received a new-looking, MotoRad branded thermostat in a very clearly used Gates box. The box had a piece of tape on it with "Mark 5/17" written in black marker. Installation of the part went fine, it fit in my car, time will tell if it works as well as a true OEM. ... show more

  • Nice to have heat again.
Don't forget to get coolant, and make sure it is the same color as what is already in the car, also you will need a tool for the serpentine belt. It is amazing how nice it is to have full heat again. It takes about 30-40 minutes of drive time to wear in, and it seems like the car will overheat, but just pull over and let the heat come down. After that break in period it is smooth as silk. ... show more
