  • Past Loves Come Face to Face
Format: Kindle
I absolutely love this series and each story just keeps getting better and better. I was excited to get Talia's story after the ending of the last book when she encounters Foster Madden at the hospital and she flees. I knew this was going to be a tear jerker. Garnet Flats follows Talia Eden, the sister of Knox and Griffin from the first two books. Talia moved back to her hometown to work under her mentor at the local hospital, she's trying to earn her place and move in the ranks from resident doctor to full fledge and respected doctor. Though work is tiring and stressful, especially with the head nurse being so sour, she thrives and loves her job. But her past love in the form of famous professional fighter Foster Madden, moves to her town to win her back. For Talia her heart breaks all over again, reminded of what he did and broke, but Foster will do anything to win her back and to show her that there was a reason for everything and she is the most important person in the world to him. Talia and Fosters story is heartbreaking, there is so much tension and hurt when these two meet again. Talia is definitely a force to be reckoned with and she doesnt let Foster just walk back into her life. Foster has had it rough, though he's famous there has been nothing easy about his life and the loss of the one woman he loved. In the end this was my favorite so far in the series, all the siblings and their loves are back, along with the beautiful setting of these Montana town. Its sexy and angsty but the family dynamic and rich storyline by Perry is fantastically written. ... show more

  • Small Town Feels & Second Chance Romance- What More Could you Want!
Format: Kindle
I had the pleasure of reading this in the car on the way down to Florida to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family. It was my reprieve in between my children not napping and kept me sane LOL. I noticed that this book has a lower rating than the other in this series so went in a little unsure but honestly I enjoyed it! I do understand other people's hesitations though I mean your boyfriend marries your BF of course you want him dead, but once we heard Foster's side I got it (kind of). This is the third book in this series and focuses on Talia (Lyla's twin). She is the first sister of the Edens that has gotten a book, and I am glad we got to hear her story first! Talia is a shell of herself. To the outside world, all is well, but she has not been ok since she moved from Vegas to Seattle alone instead of with the love of her life, now world champion boxer Foster Madden. That was 7 years ago and she has not been able to move on from the pain. It also doesn't help that she lives in Quincy where the dating pool is 0. She is happy that two of her brothers have found their partners and grown their family but secretly she wants that but only with one person, Foster. She is still stunned to see him walk into the hospital where she works asking to speak with her. She does what any sane woman would do in this situation and hides and then runs away. He ends up finding her and she knows right away that their chemistry hasn't died at all. Even though she is hurt, she recognizes hurt in him as well. She wants to know what happened but doesn't know if her heart can take it. Foster is eventually able to get her to hear him out, after a reconnection of passion and then regret by Talia, about why he married Vivienne, Talia's BF. It appears that Vivienne's dad, who trained Foster and brought him up through the ranks, was not a good man. He had Foster in a corner that he couldn't find a way out of which ended up breaking Talia's heart. Talia thinks she is mending from this when another surprise comes when Vivienne comes into town. The hits keep on coming when Talia thinks she is over that but nope- Vivienne's dad's ways have hit home and Foster has been asked to do the unthinkable once again. But now he has Talia by his side and he is hoping that the decision will be easier for him- will it? This book hit on a few things that I liked. There was the regret of bad communication and things being misinterpreted. There was the angst of still having the chemistry but not sure if they would be able to overcome the other hurdles thrown their way. There was Foster coming from a small not super loving family to be introduced to all of Talia's family who despite knowing how he treated her, welcome him with open arms (after some pointed comments). This one did lack in the "suspense" aspect like the others, but I didn't mind that. I have been on a big second chance romance kick and this one did not disappoint. Again, I understand people's hesitation with this one but I liked their rekindling and how Foster ended up treating Talia like the queen she is. I am looking forward to continuing on through the Eden children to Eloise who mistakenly married Jasper (Foster's trainer). Hope you enjoy! ... show more

  • decent story
Format: Kindle
After devouring the first two books in this series, I was excited to read about Talia and Foster. The story just didn’t do it for me, though. I initially struggled during their early interactions, when Foster began plying the whiny victim because Talia hadn’t told her family about him all those years ago. From his indignation to his whiney questioning of whether she was ashamed of him, to his accusing her of “only telling them the bad parts, not the good parts”, I had to put the story down and walk away for a while because I couldn’t believe she didn’t put him in check right then. The only good thing she did was to remind him later that he “isn’t allowed to be mad”. Later, Lyla was told the story, and immediately turned it around and made it about herself, because she was angry at not being told earlier. I had to set the book down again when Talia didn’t shut that crap right down. Foster was a manipulative man-child, springing his daughter and ex wife on Talia, not only in her own hometown with no warning, but literally right outside her workplace, and not seeing the problem! I wanted to junk-punch him FOR HER, since she wouldn’t handle business herself! I wanted to like Talia; I truly did, but she was such a doormat that I couldn’t take her character seriously. And I guess Griffen and Knox just set the bar too high as MMC, because Foster just fell way short trying to reach their level. I do like this author, though, and I am excited to read Jasper and Eloise’s story! ... show more
