DIFFERENTIAL ANKLE PADS Securely locks the heel in place for a precise fit around the ankle bones for better stability and support. ASYMMETRICAL CUFF The ankle cuff is lower on the outside and taller on the inside for better edging, greater overall stability and comfort when traversing and scrambling. ANATOMICAL TONGUE The tongue matches the asymmetric shape of the top of your foot and ankle. It is thicker to the outside and progressively thinner toward the inside. • Great Boots for rucking and daily wear!
I don’t usually write reviews, but I was just recommending these boots to a couple buddies, and felt compelled to write this. Owned for 4 years now. These are the best boots I’ve owned. I’ve done hundreds of miles of heavy rucking in these boots. Did the Bataan and Norwegian multiple years with dozens of training rucks in between. Couple things to note: 1. GET THE WIDE version (unless you have very narrow feet). They run narrow. I took a recommendation from a buddy who is a monster Rucker. He told me get the wide. He was right. They fit perfect from day 1. 2. Bypass the metal eyelets on the side with your laces. I initially laced them using the side eyelets. The first few rucks I did, they put way too much pressure on the tops of my feet. Once I bypassed the metal eyelets, they were perfect. 3. I have owned these for 4 years and have worn them daily for work (Army) in addition to rucking—in the field, summer, winter, rain, snow, mud, dust, etc. They are still in excellent condition. No sole separation, original laces, all stitching perfect. 4. Extremely light and comfortable. I have never needed to use aftermarket sole inserts or anything. 5. I used to struggle with sole imbalance on some of the heavier soled army issue boots. I would experience uneven wear on the outer heel. That has not been an issue with these boots. I don’t know if it is because they “fixed” my stride due to their excellent construction or what, but take that for what it is. No uneven wear on the soles. I will be replacing them soon with another pair because after 4 years the soles are a little worn down. Not nearly as much as you would think, but it is probably time for another pair. ... show more

  • Great boots that are worth the cost
The Garmont boots are lightweight, comfortable and durable. Like any boots they need to be broken in, but once they are they are solid. I have put over 20miles of rucks, and days of duty use one these and so far no complaints. The break in period has its moments, and I was a little hesitant but once I had put a few miles on them, got them soaked, cleaned them up everything was good to go. I would recommend these for anyone that needs a set of boots for long ops, rucks or just for work days. Worth the price, worth the break in time, overall great lightweight combat boots! ... show more

  • Sweetness
Size: 11 Color: Nfs
Everything to like, nothing to dislike! Fit is spot on, with just the right touch of extra width. Laces are easy to tie with my fat fingers. lol Comfortable, light weight as advertised. I would most definitely recommend to friends. Many thanks

  • Great quality, for the right feet.
Size: 9 Wide Color: Nfs Coyote
These boots have great construction. They are very light and the insole is incredibly comfortable. I assume they would hold up very well around the office and on road marches, and the occasional off road ruckmarch. However, the ankle hook eyelets with bearings severely pinched my ankles, even when adjusting the lacing to skip them, which kind of defeats the purpose. Based on their popularity it’s likely a unique situation based on my anatomy. I tried switching to the wide size, but it didn’t fix the problem. I would still rate them pretty high because I could tell they would be a fantastic boot if not for my weird feet. The toe box feels more narrow than the BIFIDA, so you might need to go with a wider size. ... show more

  • Excellent Grippieness, stability, terrain feel
I had bought a pair of Malestroms prior to these. Wore them with 2 pairs of merino wool socks, Dr schols inserts, cinched them down tight. These worked for very light duty for about 6 months. Light duty is a one and one half mile hike through the Florida State Parks once/twice a week or so. So maybe 25 to 50 times worn. Well, the eylets started to rip out of the leather uppers, especially the one at the juncture of foot and ankle. I decided I needed to upgrade. By all measures these Garmont T8's Bifidas are judged to be the best by almost all military who have to ruck for a living. I bought a pair and wore them for the first time today; 1 1/2 mile urban hike with 40 lbs of photographic gear; heavy duty tripod, backpack for bodies/lenses, photo jacket with ancillary stuff. First the good news. They are wonderful on my feet. I feel a sureness of foot, a grippieness of terrain and an excellent sense of stability. I love them. But, but, I immediately experienced hot spots on both heels, the vertical parts that touch the backs of the boots. These hot spots were not too bad. I did have on my DarnTough merino wool socks which I am sure mitigated. But the hot spots persisted. I saw one review that discussed this same problem. In a mile and a half they were not too bad and I never for a moment considered returning the boots. They feel too good to return and I will need to find a way to resolve this heel problem. I think the solution is as the prior reviewer suggested; put a bandaid on the sore spot on my heals until they toughen up enough to not be a problem. I am sure this is a shoe issue only because I cinched down the laces very well on my foot and the ball bearing eyelit locked it in, allowing me to also get exactly the right, firm and secure grip on my ankle all the way to the top. I think it is amazing that these boots felt like a second skin immediately as I put them on, no waiting, no breaking in, no problems other than these minor hot spots on my heels. So, net, net, I recommend them highly. I am sure they will work well for me in the varied and uneven terrain I experience in the state and national parks in Florida and the SouthEast. ... show more
