  • Great headlight for a bicycle!
Takes some time to get it paired with my other Garmin and Apple products. Once that's done with this headlight + camera functions exactly as advertised. I 'filmed' my first road bike ride today, didn't have anything notable happen in the doing so it's strictly entertainment at this point. There will be more to come with what's left of the outdoor bicycling season this year where I live. ... show more

  • Long battery life, high quality videos
This works really well. 4K camera with image stabilization. Battery seems to last quite a while. The sun sets later now, so I haven't had the need to use the light on my commute home, and only had to charge this once a week. I took it out for a 2 hour early morning ride before sunrise, and still had about 60% left when I got back home later that morning. EDIT 23 JAN 2026 My original camera got damaged. I reached out to customer service and was walked through the troubleshooting process. After all that. With the camera still not working, the associate I spoke with was able to set me up with a replacement order and a return label to send my damaged camera back. All in all, I am more than happy that Garmin stands behind their products. ... show more

  • Not the best Garmin product
I've had this product now about a year and a half. It's ok and basically does the things as advertised. Wouldn't get it again: too heavy, overpriced. Connectivity has been a chronic problem and seems to be getting more glitchy as time goes by. And it sometimes runs extremely hot. Getting less reliable for me and I doubt I'll replace it. ... show more

  • Great bike camera light
Pairs well with the Garmin Edge 1050. The battery life is great, unless you are constantly recording in 4K.

  • Over-priced junk
Camera sucks. Can barely get license plates in broad daylight. Very grainy. Battery sucks. Recording 1080p battery ran out on a 2 hour bike ride, using the light for only the last hour. Charging is inconsistent. Even when I make sure to completely turn it off, it will often be on 50-75% battery when I start a ride. I had to remove the app, which had finer grain control over light settings, recording quality and battery life because it interfered with connection to my garmin edge. ... show more

  • Mediocre overpriced product
First of all - lack of vision from the Garmin side. The integration between products is not holistic and this product is inferior to the similar ones. Hardware The build quality is questionable. How can you even come up with a plastic part that holds entire enclosure? The is renders camera unsuitable to any aggressive discipline. Image sensors and EIS features are not even close to GoPro offers, image quality is a total miss. Anything less than 4k makes plate numbers unreadable. The light itself is bad. We want to have a spot in front of us, like 3 seconds at the max speed, not a floodlight that blinds incoming traffic and renders stuff barely visible in the night. You need a different lense that focuses light into 3 m spot in about 15 meters away from the cyclist. You are building product for people who ride 50 kph, not 20. At least you need to provide a way to adjust light lense focus. Battery life is a shame. I ride Boston Midnight Marathon. It is a big even and I want to record it. Usually the entire roundtrip takes up to 5 hours with all shenanigans completely in the night. So I would expect to run medium light and 4K camera for 5 hours at the temperature about 5C. There are people who do ultramarathons, brevets like 300km. This takes up to 20 hours and can span overnight. Where this product could be useful it doesn't deliver. When the product is mounted LED indicators aren't visible from the position of the rider. We don't even know if product is on. Also, Garmin really saved on flash drive. Updated 2025-06-29: The device burned down my Apple charger. I'm glad it was not my house. Software Garmin doesn't know how to build software. For real. Every Garmin gadget has awful UI/UX, this camera is not exception. And I know why - the Garmin engineers don't use their own products. Let me start from the first step - this product is not supported by Connect where the entire Edge ecosystem exists. It would make so much sense to implement such support out of the box. The Varia app is weird. It is designed for some sort of dumbed down user and at the same time makes settings control difficult. Let's put it this way - only controlling the light mode is easy. Everything else is cumbersome. The image access is unreliable. BLE connection is also unreliable, connecting to the camera is tricky, we need to switch to pairing mode all the time. The whole things is not working well and sluggish. Also, trying to upsale on $500+ product makes you look very bad, literally desperate. Conclusion This product is mediocre in every aspect. It is not well thought, poorly engineered, overpriced and only has place on the market due to the limited competition. This is only matters of time. There are made in China automotive dashcams that produce a much better image quality for 10% of the price you are asking. Once they figure out the niche this product will be out of competition unless you will make a superior product. For those who is deciding whether to buy or not: if you want to record a high quality video - get a good action camera like GoPro. If you want to record your rides - there is Cycliq for less money with similar functions. Attaching a few images to give you a taste of "quality". As you can see - the plate numbers absolutely unreadable from minimal distance at the perfect sunlight. BTW, I wanted to buy this product using corporate discount but it was ineligible and I had to pay a whole price. I will add this as another cons. Dear Garming team, if you really want to build a better version of this camera please reach out to me. I would be glad to draw spec sheet for a good product and help you improve UX. ... show more

  • Great integrated camera and headlight to go with your Garmin rear radar and bike computer.
If you want to record a long ride, do not leave it on 4K. The 1080 recording is adequate and will give you about 6 hours of recording with daylight flash mode on the light.

  • Satisfied customer
It’s pretty easy to use. Good resolution. It’s nice to be able to capture video footage hands free for the entire length of the ride.
