  • ICE TRANDUCER
Style: Fishfinder Kit
Package came in closed and not damaged, Went through the box and all its contents. Came with everything for ice fishing for the most part. Note if your looking for this for normal fishing and ice fishing, it does say foam float and it comes with it. But this item DOESN'T come with the ice fishing transducer. but for the price I had bought for this item I'm not causing a problem. Clarifying for others out there trying to save money but get what they need to have fun. ... show more

  • The best in its class.
Style: Fishfinder Kit
Accurate to the millimeter! See everything that is happening under the water. I used the regular ducer for ice fishing and it works just fine. Just had to attach it to a pole for easier set up. Would recommend getting the ice ducer to save on space. Suction cup works great on the back of the boat and under the kayak. Gps is pretty crude. But you can plot where you've been and specific way points. For the money, this does everything that you need it to. 10/10. ... show more

  • Great depth finder!
Style: Fishfinder Kit
Very accurate and easy to use! I like having the portable case with it also. I use it for fishing in my kayak, and I actually used 20lb outdoor velcro to secure the battery in the case, and then bungee the case right in front of me to padeyes. The wires are tucked away, and I ran one into my dry port for the transducer. I shoot through the hull with the transducer mounted inside my kayak with the foam mounting kit. I give it four stars because you do have to keep the transducer wet at all times. The foam mount will dry out if on the water for too long. The lowest point of my kayak is hard to reach when sitting on it, so I have to paddle to shore and reach back in to pour water back into the mount. I like having it in the hull so I can keep the wires all tucked away. I have not yet decided if I am going to continue to shoot through the hull or buy a transducer arm to drop it straight into the water. If I buy the transducer arm, I will have to buy the longer power cable and mount the battery in the hull (the power cable with the portable kit is only about 1ft long), or have wires running everywhere. It doesn't have maps, but I love being able to store waypoints for ledges, drops and stick piles. ... show more

  • Comes with battery and no interference from flashers when ice fishing.
Style: Fishfinder Kit
I bought this item because I wanted a fish finder that I could use in the summer and ice fishing in the winter. All my friends use Vexilar flashers in the winter. I was concerned that the vexilars would create interference for the Garmin or vice versa. I ordered my Garmin after reading the reviews but the description did not indicate if it came with a battery or not and I was going on a fishing trip, so I bought a battery at my local store so I would be ready. I was surprised to find that it came with a battery, so now I own a spare. Last weekend I went fishing with my friends at Lake of the Woods, Mn. and fished in heated ice fishing shacks. There were two people in each shack. I used my Garmin on the flasher mode with the transducer that came with the kit and it worked perfectly. There was minimal interference from the devices used even though we were only about 4 feet apart. We were in heated shacks, so I don't know how the cold would affect this Garmin. I did not need to buy a special transducer. I was able to see the fish and my jig near the bottom of the lake in 22 ft of water. We fished for three days and caught an average of 100 to 120 fish per shack each day. I could not be happier with my Garmin. It worked just as well as the Vexilars that cost over $400 and the Garmin is more versatile. I did not have to change the battery at all using it for 10 hours each day for 3 days. I can't wait to try this out this summer fishing from my small boat. ... show more

  • It works not perfect but good enough for me.
Style: Fishfinder Kit
I bought this because I have a small boat that is primarily used for hunting not fishing. I did not want a permanent mount. It was easy to use from the start up page on it. It is also easy to read. I like to troll for fish along the drop offs. At different times the dept finder would get confused and pixelize. It takes a good minute to work it way out. It just seemed like the machines is a little slower then what it should be. You also have to be cognizant of making sure the transducer gets a clear view of everything, meaning when you attach it push it down the back of the boat until the transducer clears the bottom of the boat. It worked much better. We did question how accurate it is as well...but I think that may have been user error. I would give it 5 stars but it’s not perfect and I don’t expect perfection for what I spent. It worked and helped. The directions are terrible too. ... show more

  • Ice fishing rig
Style: Fishfinder Kit
I have a Vexilar FL-8 and I bought this so I could keep one at the cabin and one at home. This has become my favorite fish finder. I thought I'd use the flasher on this like my other one, but I really like the traditional sonar much better. It allows a little bit of history to be read so you can watch your jig patterns and see what brings the fish up from the bottom. I had no problem seeing the screen in direct sunlight like others have said. The transducer isn't your normal ice fishing kind but it works just fine. It picked up my 1/16oz jig on the screen no problem. The cord can get a little stiff if fishing in like 15 degrees or less making it a little harder to wrap up at the end of the day. The ice fishing specific transducer for this is about 2/3 the cost of this whole unit ($100-120). there is also no arm to hold the transduser away from the edge of the ice hole. I bought a Marcum replacement arm and attatched that and used a Vexilar little stopper bean to keep it at the right depth. It comes with a battery which was nice. The power cables going to the unit aren't the same connector as the charger for it so you have to take the wires off at the battery terminal to charge it rather than just unplug a quick disconnect and plug in the charger. The carry handle for this doesn't stick out of the soft case and its more like a carry pocket. The material between the handle and your hand can be a bit slippery if holding it with gloves. ... show more
