So far, the Garmin Instinct 3 Tactical has been an excellent smartwatch. I switched from a Suunto Race watch because the crown button on my previous watch would press into the back of my hand and eventually cause bruising during everyday wear. The Instinct 3 has been much more comfortable, and I haven't experienced any discomfort or restrictions while wearing it. One of the first things I noticed was the bright AMOLED display. It is sharp, vibrant, and much easier to read than my previous watch, especially indoors and in different lighting conditions. The menus are also well organized and easy to navigate, so it didn't take long to become familiar with the interface. The watch fits my wrist very well, and despite its 50mm size, it feels comfortable enough to wear throughout the day. The metal-reinforced bezel gives it a rugged feel without making it overly heavy. I also like that Garmin allows you to download and install additional watch faces, making it easy to customize the watch to match your preferences. Having that flexibility is a nice bonus. Battery life has been about the same as my previous watch, which is perfectly acceptable considering the bright AMOLED display. I haven't noticed any unexpected battery drain during normal use. My only minor complaint is the screen lock function. I wish there were a quicker way to lock the screen by simply holding a button instead of navigating through the menus each time. It's not a major issue, but it would make the watch even more convenient to use. I'm very happy with the Garmin Instinct 3 Tactical. It is comfortable to wear, easy to read, simple to navigate, and packed with useful features. One of the best watches I've owned. If you're a first time Garmin owner there is a somewhat steep learning curve. After a few days I was a natural with navigating the menus. I like that the watch is subtle. I have other watches that are in-your-face that draw attention. This watch gets the job done without any fanfare. I replaced the factory band with an aftermarket leather band purchased here on Amazon. Much better. Leather on one side abd silicon underneath. Perfect. Same type of band that came with my Tissot MotoGP. Battery life is superb. I had an Apple Watch Ultra 2 until last year. Great watch, but I love this Garmin. Everyone has an Apple Watch. Feels good to have something different that is equal or better than the Ultra 2. Not having to worry about charging every two days is nice. Health and fitness tracking are spot on. This watch is extremely practical for my job & life. It’s rugged, reliable and dependable and I utilize almost every feature. The AMOLED display is subtle and is easy on the eyes especially when out late at night. A must have for use whether tactical or outdoors.

So I’ve been on a Garmin watch craze lately. Got really tired of the Apple watches. These are gorgeous watches. Especially this model. The feedback on the buttons the titanium shell everything is great. But one thing I noticed was the sleep monitoring across all the watches. I’ve tested this on the instinct, three, amoled and solar. All of them failed drastically when monitoring sleep. I’ve also been testing out two different ring health monitors. Both of those monitors forgive me for waking up a couple times per night to urinate, but still track over eight hours sleep. Which is accurate. All the Garmin watches, though, fail drastically. Every one of them is only tracking about three hours of sleep. I have to manually correct the sleep times within the app. And of course, this throws off the body battery and all the other health settings because it thinks you only got three hours sleep. This is pretty unfortunate and I hope Garmin addresses it soon. ... show more
