  • Durable and feature packed!
Size: 47 mm Style: fenix 8 - SOLAR Color: Titanium w/ Pebble Gray Band
My husband ordered the Garmin Fenix, and he absolutely loves it! The first thing that stood out was the durability — the sapphire face is tough and scratch-resistant, which gives him peace of mind wearing it every day. The build feels solid and high quality, exactly what you’d expect from Garmin. The features are incredible. He uses the GPS often and says it’s very accurate, and the variety of health tracking options (heart rate, sleep, activity, etc.) make it a great all-around tool for fitness and daily life. The battery life is also impressive, lasting much longer than his previous smartwatch. Overall, this watch is worth every penny. Between the rugged durability, advanced features, and sleek design, it’s been one of his favorite purchases. If you’re considering investing in a smartwatch that can handle it all, this is the one to get! ... show more

  • Best Watch - The 47mm > 51mm
Size: 47 mm Style: fenix 8 - SOLAR Color: Titanium w/ Pebble Gray Band
Fenix 8 Solar has everything you will need in a watch. I tried the 51mm version and it felt rediculously large, even at 6'1" and 220 with a large build it felt like a computer on my wrist... so i went with the 47mm and it is exactly the fit and tidy look I wanted. I have been running this watch for a few months now and have nothing but good things to say. After setup I disabled phone notifications as I don't necessarily want a smartwatch like an Apple/Samsung bothering me nonstop, and it does shine for people who want to keep track of health and fitness metrics, weather, workout progress, gps & hiking locations and even a few stock ticker symbols - but all this is on demand. When I turn on bluetooth, it automatically updates activities and syncs, while still not being bothersome. This is the perfect watch for an outdoorsman - especially battery life. The solar version uses MIP which was my preference over AMOLED because of battery life as well as display simplicity. Most people would likely prefer the amoled but again, I didn't necessarily want a smartwatch in the way most do. Anyway.... enough of the rant, this watch is awesome, buy it. Also snag up a few of those cheap bezel covers & a few armorsheildz display covers if you work in rough enviornments ie. outdoors/forestry/agriculture/military/fire etc. as this truly is a nice looking watch and will help keep it that way. ... show more

  • Big Step Backwards in Useability
Size: 47 mm Style: fenix 8 - SOLAR Color: Titanium w/ Pebble Gray Band
Usability really took a dive in Fenix 8. Four key features where I spend 99% of my time: Watch Face, Activities List, Activities and Sensors. Plus the watch is unstable and repeatedly crashes during activities - good luck getting that resolved during a bike ride. The watch face no longer has a simple digital time and date option. Why in the world they do not just include everything from the prior version is a mystery to me? Since I use this every day, my eyes are not as strong as they once were, and I cannot read the date, I dropped two stars. Shame on Garmin for missing simple functionality. Next, the activities list. This is where I go every time I interact with my watch to record an activity. The top right button to see my activities list. Yes, they messed this up. They didn’t have to. They could’ve just built functionality to allow users to resort to the way it used to work. Now there is a list of three favorite activities for which you scroll left and right with the up-and-down scroll buttons. Then there is a button. Then there is a non-intuitive icon. You need to press to actually get to your activities list. This means you might be pressing three or four button clicks just to get to your activities list. Then, below the three favorite activities, there is a list of complete junk, stuff nobody uses, which is more accessible than your activities list. When you do find your way to the activities list, you always start at the top activity and scroll down. There is no longer a memory to start you at the last activity you used. Just a pathetic regression of functionality. During an activity, I use customized displays. My favorite displays 6 data fields - or at least it used to. There is a bug so that the bottom field does not display - just blank space. Really? They cannot test the different layouts to verify that they actually work? When recording and activity, I often go to settings and sensors to connect or reconnect a sensor. This used to be simple: press the left button to get into settings, scroll down to sensors, press select, and go do what I need to do. Now it’s the left click, then scroll down to watch settings, then press select, then scroll down to connectivity, then press select, then scroll down to sensors, then press select. Doing this, while in an activity just compounds the burden and the difficulty of usability. Finally, every time without exception that I was recording an activity and went to look at my sensors, the watch went into the blue triangle of death mode. And I could not get it reset for quite some time. The sheer incompetence to take something that was simple and effective and mess it up boggles the brain. I am a big Garmin fan and a user of much of their hardware. They have me seriously looking for alternatives. UPDATED 6-30-26 with new bugs. ... show more

  • Pros and Cons
Size: 47 mm Style: fenix 8 - SOLAR Color: Titanium w/ Pebble Gray Band
I will break this down by pros and cons. PROS: -Love the look and feel of the watch and band -Screen is easy on the eyes and touch -Size fits my wrist and doesn’t look to small or bulky -So far the charge has lasted a week with no charge (will update if this changes -So many options for customized settings CONS: -So many options may make this watch overwhelming for some people -Directions are minimal unless you dive into the 200+ page manual.. nobody does -I set up a pin on it in case it got lost or stolen. Love that feature but wish there was a finger print option. Make it faster to get in and read messages, etc. Overall I love the feel and options I have in this so far. I have done a lot of research before hand to know this was the watch I wanted. I will update this post if there are major changes. ... show more
