  • Very dependable unit
So I would like to say, I have been using fishfinders for well over a decade and find that Garmin all the way around is the best choice. Not only are the functions and keypad easy to use but what I am always most impressed with is it will hold bottom at over 35 mph. I don’t start losing signal till I get around 40 mph and that was with one try at installation. I just got rid of a Loweance seven reveal with the triple shot that for months I could not get dialed in to hold bottom pass 15 mph or so and had tons of GPS and depth issues. I went with a smaller unit this time but it did come with maps, and I am completely satisfied. . ... show more

  • Perfect for kayak…..
The transducer is smaller than the previous generation. This is a good thing as it is a perfect fit on a Hobie kayak. This generation also uses a lot less battery power. I ran mine all day and it barely drained. Any juice off of my battery. And it’s a very accurate GPS. The fishfinder works great when using dual frequency. Kind of a must-have when you’re jigging for salmon. The screen resolution doesn’t seem as refined as the previous generations, and overall is a much lighter unit than the previous generation. ... show more

  • Simple and easy to use/install
Installed this on my 20' pontoon boat. It was dead simple to install. Needed the extension cable for the transducer. Have no major negatives, it is easy to read and use. The maps are really good, at least in more popular waters. One small lake (salmon in MT) it was missing some detail on a rock hazard that cost me a prop.. ... show more

  • Just what I was expecting.
I was totally surprised that this product matched all the connections that I had on my previous Garmin which didn't have the charts feature. It is very unusual to get to plug and play anything on my boat without customization. This item fits perfectly. The screen is just the size and clarity I wanted. Thank you for a great product. ... show more

  • Garnin is the Bomb
I mounted this On the Deck of my 10.2 Aquos pontoon boat. This little unit is awesome I am amazed at the clarity of this device. everything was easy to mount and get up and running. I have been in Boats with different brands of fish finder depth finders and can't believe how clear and easy to use this unit is. I haven't even come close to using all options this little unit offers. if you have limited space or just don't want one of the huge unit's this will get the job done. ... show more

  • Bottom mapping didn't work out
Although there are a lot of really good features, it didn't work out for me, so I returned it. In my situation, there are areas of my lake where the shallow channels will move following storms. So I need to use the contouring mapping with defined depth colors so I can know where to avoid and to be able to map it again every so often. I was upgrading from the Garmin Striker Vivid 4cv in order to get some of the really good features the EchoMap had. The Strike does great at the type of mapping I need to do, but lacks other features I want. I spent well over an hour with Garmin tech support before they finally said I'd need to go to the Striker 7cv to do what I want with some extra features ( but nit all of them(. So, I'm compromising. The two photos show the difference between the Striker 4 and EchoMap 4 in the same little cove I go through. The Striker just shows a lot more detail in terms of color based depths from the bottom contours I collect. I'd say if you don't need to do what I'm doing, it's actually a great little unit. ... show more

  • Great seller and product support
I ordered this knowing it's an older model but the price for what I needed it for was great especially on prime day. I installed the first one and the transducer only worked for 5 minutes . I called the sellers support number they were great sent me a new unit after going thru the steps and finding it was definitely a bad transducer . Arrived in one day reinstalled new unit working great. ... show more
