  • Great product!
Color: Ivory Style: S50
Everyone I golf with has made a comment about how sharp, bright and detailed the face is. Easy to see in full sun and so seamless to use. I use to keep my score and it buzzes if you get to the next hole without putting your score in. Just touch a hazard and you can see yardages to carry bunkers, if you want to lay up before the bunkers or water. Absolutely love using this watch. About to buy the CT10 sensors to pair with my watch so I will have another review soon. There are numerous Garmin watches and I have the 50, think it hits the sweet spot for all Garmin watches. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • The S44 is Fantastic
Color: Black Style: S44
***UPDATE JUNE 2025: After four months of using the watch, I've noticed that about one in every five-ish rounds, the S44 watch will randomly reboot in the middle of my round, and I lose all of my shot distance data from the previous holes. Garmin is providing a replacement through the warranty. I will update this review again in a few months if the replacement has the same issue. The S44 is my first golf GPS watch after using just a rangefinder the last few years, and I'll never go back to the rangefinder life. This thing is awesome! I went for the S44 because I'm more of a traditional watch person for day to day life, so I don't need all the extra health-related features. Still, the S44 has a packed amount of golf-specific features. Here are the features that I especially love: -It vibrates to prompt you to select which club you just hit after each shot -After each hole, you can confirm your score for that hole and optionally, you can select if you hit the fairway or left/right, how many putts, and if you had any penalties. You don't have to select that every time, but it helps for being able to see your game stats later -You can easily adjust where the pin is located on the green to get more accurate numbers on the watch -Gives yardages to dogleg holes -Unless you're hitting a 30-footer putt or longer, it doesn't detect your putting swing, but I believe it still approximates where your ball is on the green based on how long you stand in a specific area. So while it won't prompt you to select your putter after you hit a putt, the app will sometimes show you where you were on the green afterwards -I can go through the app after my round to re-live my round hole by hole with the course maps, club selection, and yardage numbers -It's surprisingly lightweight -Does a good job counting steps -The glass screen feels super smooth The watch band is secure and has tons of size options -After one round, the battery only drained about 15%. I have a feeling you could use the S44 for 3 or 4 rounds without needing to recharge Things that could be better: -The fact that Garmin charges a monthly fee to have better course maps and slope is criminal. I know ten bucks a month is not bad, but why charge for that? Why not just include that as an incredible feature built into their watches? They could capture more of the market by not being greedy -I wish I could explore courses in the app before my rounds. Luckily I can just use 18Birdies for this, but it feels like it would be an easy thing to add to the Garmin app too -This isn't necessarily a bad thing, just a natural part of the watch: it will vibrate to prompt you to select which club you used even after your practice swings. This feels obvious in hindsight because how would the watch know whether it's your real swing or a practice one. Still, it was a little bit of a mental adjustment to expect the small vibration about 5 seconds after my practice swings too Overall, I love the S44 and I hope it lasts me the next 3 to 5 years at least! Being able to get instant numbers from my watch instead of constantly pulling out the rangefinder has been a game changer. Makes my rounds faster and more strategic. ... show more

Works great! Probably more features than I will use now, but looking forward to growing into this watch. I am very happy with this purchase.

  • GPS finds your courses.
Color: Black Style: S44
Husband loves how easily it gets the course he is on, and even which hole when he sometimes starts at ten. The battery carries him through the round w other some charge left. The learning curve was not too steep for a 71 year old man.

  • Great product, a few improvements needed
Color: Slate with Black Band Style: S50
I’ve had a Garmin ViVo S4 for 4 years, until the face became unresponsive. I put that thing through its paces. Running, golfing, hiking, glacier climbing. Worked like a charm. Just purchased a new S50 as a gift to myself. Works as expected, more responsive, more user friendly interface. However: 1. Upon receiving the device and performing the necessary start up - software update took 2 & 1/2 hours. No message on the Garmin app or watch as to time left. I walked away, left the house had dinner, came back, watch working. 2. Watch comes with a cheap nylon / velcro band. My S4 had a silicone band out of the box. Seriously, Garmin? At $350 dollars, cheap out on a silicone watch band. At least allow the option to add a silicone watch band, instead of needing to separately order and have it delivered 1 week later, 3. The quickstart 3 fold page is illustration only. The legal disclaimer book in 50 languages (also in microscopic print) is worthless. Going to the device specific manual on the Garmin site is needed. Why not do without any worthless appear and put a sticker that instructs the buyer to go directly to the Garmin page. 4. A larger diameter face would be nicer for the elder, visually challenged users, with the option to choose larger fonts would be thoughtful. Looking forward to using this with the upcoming spring weather. ... show more

  • I hate to say it but I'm disappointed and especially with the golf related features
Color: Slate with Black Band Style: S50
My Garmin Approach S20 has performed flawlessly for what seems like ten years. I charge it once a month in non-golf season and once a week during golf season. It provides spot-on distances on the golf course. I have beaten it to death wearing it when I do yard work and it just keeps on keeping on! I decided I wanted something a little dressier and thought it might be nice to have color graphics and I thought the "plays like" feature would be a nice bonus plus the heart rate and O2 sensors seemed like a good idea. Granted, the amoled display is a nice improvement even if the smaller numbers on the health features are difficult to read. The color graphics are nice but I charge the watch twice a week when not playing golf and daily when playing golf. However, the two most disappointing aspects are that I find my watch constantly disconnecting from my phone if I get just a few feet away from my phone which is problematic while playing golf since I leave my phone in the cart when I walk to my shot location. The other problem is that the "plays like distance" is virtually useless. The first hole I played showed a 106 yard approach shot for both actual and plays like distance even though the shot was straight uphill and into a 2-club wind. Additionally, I found that the GPS didn't connect in some valleys. I can't honestly say that this is an upgrade over my S20 given these issues. ... show more
