  • New to garlic apparatus
Color: Black-Bold
I've been cooking for over 40 years and this is the absolute first time I've tried using anything other than a knife to handle garlic. I had some pretty big pieces of garlic to work with and the crush sleeve worked its magic with some pressure. I still had to pull off skin, but it was easier than trying to remove it with a knife. I would say the size of my cloves were probably an issue even for the crusher, so I sliced them into slightly smaller pieces and it seemed to do the trick. The first time I used the brush to remove the garlic from the crusher, some of the garlic ended up on the wall. So definitely be mindful of your movement and take it slow. I became impatient and used my knife to remove some of it, but the brush is definitely the better tool in this case. I intend to use this more in hopes that it will become easier to use. I'm concerned about getting it thoroughly clean, both the grinder and the brush, so I soaked them both in hot soapy water this time and hope that that is enough. I don't want to run the risk of destroying it with harsh cleaners, but I certainly don't want to breed germs. Anyhow, this is a good product that I assume now will become easier and easier to use with each turn in the future. ... show more

  • Pretty handy, even with carpal tunnel
Color: Red
Tested it right when it came as we cook a lot with garlic and the garlic tubes are expensive, and the preserves garlic has the nasty citric acid taste. Even with carpal tunnel, we didn't have issues making this work. Cleanup is easier than the nutcracker-type garlic presses. I found the bristles of a bottle brush were slightly easier to clean this than a regular sponge but even a sponge got the job done. It creates little bits of extruded garlic similar to minced garlic in the glass jars (except, once again, without the nasty citric acid taste.) I was worried this was going to be a novelty gadget, but I think we'll actually use this regularly. It does seem like it is best to do a lot of garlic at one time so I'll probably have to do serving size portions frozen. *WARNING: The USDA advises against storing minced garlic in oil in the fridge or at room temperature, because there is risk of producing botulism toxins. If you want to mince garlic ahead and store it, freezing is the safest way to go.* ... show more

  • If you've used one before, you know it's okay, but sometimes okay is...well...okay.
Color: Black-Bold
If you're like me and have used one of these in the past, you know they aren't the greatest since the garlic gets stuck and you need to rock back and forth several times just to be able to fully pulverize each spicy aromatic morsel, then use a knife or scraping object to remove the bounty. It then becomes this big sticky mess on your cutting board. It's okay, but not great. This product is no different. But hey, sometimes you're like screw it, I don't wanna waste a whole bunch of time chopping or mincing garlic and just get it done. That's why I can really only write about how it's made. The overall quality of the product is not amazing, but pretty good. The metal feels pretty smooth and shouldn't harm a cutting board, while the handle feels pretty sturdy. And they also throw in a simple rolling garlic peeler, which is pretty handy if you want a cleanly peeled clove of garlic. ... show more

  • Time Saver
Color: Black-Bold
This is easy to use and saves us the time and frustration of peeling (I find peeling garlic disproportionately arduous and grumble the entire time I’m doing it) and chopping garlic pretty much every night (yeah, I hate peeling it, but I eat it in just about everything). It makes the whole process so much faster and cleanup is no worse than cleaning a grater. If I can’t get away with just smashing the cloves, this is almost as easy. ... show more

  • Best gadget I've gotten!
Color: Red
Ive gone through a few garlic presses and they always end up breaking or just not working very well. But this garlic press works really well and is the best one I've ever used. My family loves to put garlic in alot of our food so this is a necessity. This one is also super easy to clean. The small brush they give helps clean the garlic out really fast. The garlic peeler works just okay. Overall this is probably one of my favorite kitchen gadgets to use. ... show more

  • Not very good
Color: Red
This garlic crusher technically works, but only with a lot of concentrated effort. You have to press down really hard a few times to get the garlic to crush into a paste, but it requires strength to do so, and you have to strain yourself and try multiple times before you can successfully crush a clove. I originally purchased this with the intent of giving it to an elderly relative who's been looking for an easy way to crush garlic, but after seeing how it works I will be unlikely to give it to her. If you're looking for a tool to crush garlic that doesn't require straining or a lot of effort or planning to give this to someone elderly or with dexterity issues, I would NOT recommend this item. ... show more

  • Works fine, a lot easier than cutting by hand
Color: White
Pretty cool little tool. You use the rubber tube to remove the outer skin of the cloves, and then rock the grater back and forth until it creates little cubes of garlic. There are probably even easier ways of doing this but considering it doesn't take up much space and doesn't require any electricity, it's a pretty handy tool. I use garlic a lot in my cooking and have always just chopped up my garlic or used garlic paste but I've been using this tool lately and it works well. The tool is mostly plastic except for the grating part and it's pretty sturdy. I don't think it will break easily if used normally. I've never used one of these before but I'm really liking it. ... show more

  • Hard To Clean
Color: Black-Bold
The Rocker works like it's supposed to but I spent more time cleaning it than using it. It comes with a little brush to clean it with but I ended up using one of my larger kitchen brushes. Overall I don't think I'll ever get another one.
