Description

The Gardman R687 4-Tier Mini Greenhouse is ideal for small backyards, decks, courtyards, and balconies, to provide protection from weather conditions. The Greenhouse is a perfect foundation for your seedlings and young plants to thrive, shielding the vegetation and therefore extending the plant growing season. The Gardman greenhouse is lightweight, yet sturdy, made of high quality solid powder-coated tubular steel and a heavy-duty clear polyethylene cover that will last seasons. The roll-up zippered door provides easy access with humidity control by simply opening/closing the zippered front flap. The assembly instructions are easy to follow and require no tools. The Greenhouse includes four 18" deep shelves with simple push-fit assembly, guy ropes, and metal stakes for extra stability against wind. For additional security, a zip tie can be attached from the frame to the shelves and there are tabs on the back to fasten it to a wall or patio railing. Enrich your Greenhouse by adding a combination of grow lights, thermometer/hygrometer, heating mats, fans, etc.

  • GREAT-- AS LONG AS YOU SECURE IT PROPERLY!!
I read all the reviews b4 choosing this grren house. I am a novice gardener. 3rd year planter. I cant grow my seedlings in my home bc of 4 dogs and 2 cats, I needed a greenhouse that could withstand cooler eve temps and option to be outside. I really like this house BECAUSE i followed the advice of others reviews. IF YOU DON'T HAVE THESE TWO ITEMS YOU NEED TO GET THEM: 1. BUY ZIP TIES (the large size, XL is fine, too) to loop the wire shelving to the shelf brackets. 2. BUY GROUND STAKES if you are going to put it outside. Some used the cover loops to secure the greenhouse to something, but that's probably where damage to the cover happens. I was lucky enough to have dog kennel ground stakes laying in my toolchest, so I could stake the bottom rack into the ground. On may 1st, we had 30mph winds and strong rain, and it never moved. The cover is still nicely intact, too. There is no damage to my greenhouse. My seedlings are popping up very nicely and there is a layer of moisture inside so I know the humidity is good. I did read also that some advise to bring it in on chilly eves, so this week here in MN (1st week of may) it's going to drop into the high 30s. I will simply add a tarp or blanket over the greenhouse to ensure it stays warm inside, although I think personally it would be fine, as my understanding is it stays 30° warmer inside the greenhouse; but to be safe, I will take the extra precaution, and cover it. I'm also going to take another reviewer's advice and buy a thermometer for inside, just so I can see the temperature difference. I've had my greenhouse 4 about 10 days I think, and so far I am very happy with it. IF you buy zip ties and be sure to secure it firmly you will be happy with it probably, too. But it MUST have added security, otherwise you will be disappointed. Inside a house will probably be secure enough, as long as you dont have small kids or pets around it. I have the "large" jiffy rectangular containers and you can fit 2 vertically on each shelf, giving a total of 8. Each container holds 24 small pods I believe. I would give the sturdiness and stability a 5 star each IF they would add zip ties and stakes to their product. But since they dont, it is an added cost if you dont have these two added items that you definitely will need! There for it gets 4 stars altogether. ... show more

  • Minor Assembly Required
Greenhouse Four-Tier Mini / B000NCTGQE I bought this greenhouse to start seedlings in the house before transplanting them outside for spring, and also to host a little herb garden in the kitchen area. Firstly, the measurements listed here are accurate. This is a very large unit, of respectable quality, and very affordable. I have yet to find another unit this size and quality online or in catalogs that doesn't cost twice this much. In fact, this same greenhouse is selling in some places for double this price, plus shipping, so Amazon has quite the bargain here. Secondly, the greenhouse is incredibly easy to put together. We had it out of the box and set up in less than half an hour, with no onerous tools required. The shelves are a thin metal lattice, to let sunlight filter down to the bottom levels, but the metal is strong and feels very sturdy. The cover has enough lee-way to slip on and off easily, as well as ties to hold it in place, and extends well to the ground, to act as a barrier to curious house cats and naughty puppies. However, and here's where I docked a star, some extra assembly is really required here. The shelves don't attach into place - they lay on top of the shelving bars, and it is absurdly easy to unbalance a shelf such that the shelf tips over and drops all your plants on the ground, spilling dirt and seeds everywhere. I had this happen and was not too amused. Don't let this put you off your purchase, though, as there is a simple solution: Buy some cheap cable ties (for example, Belkin 7.5IN Multicolored Cable Ties 52 Pieces ) and use them to cinch the shelves in place. I used 6 ties per shelf (one in each corner and two in the middle) and the shelves are now completely sturdy and will never shift or move on me. And the cable ties are easy to cut, if you ever need to disassemble your greenhouse during a move. So, bottom line, definitely buy this greenhouse for the bargain that it is and enjoy it immensely, as I am mine, but do remember to buy the cable ties (or something similar) to ensure that your pots won't fall and break. ~ Ana Mardoll ... show more
