  • lightweight, good value
Style: 1 pack-25tine
I have used a really wide plastic rake that is pretty heavy. Its handle recently has been broken, and I thought the metal rake would be a good replacement. I was a bit surprised with how it came packed, but since it is all metal, the parts were intact. It was easy to assemble, but the paints do get scraped during assembling. My wife likes that it is lighter than the big plastic one we had and easier to handle. Although the adjustable handle length is not a big merit for us, the width of the head and the weight are great. Since it's made of metal, it would last longer than the plastic one as well. This is a good value for money. ... show more

  • Took Two Kits To Make One Rake
Style: 1 pack-25tine
I will, I admit, rather ambivalent about needing another rake. I have a large plastic one and a stall cleaning fork and those two have been my workhorses. I thought that it might be nice to have a lighter-weight rake so I gave it a try. Assembly was easy except that pieces were stripped. Two of the sections would just pull out from each other and wouldn't screw in at all. I had to request a second kit and it had the same problem! I was able to cobble a rake together out of the two kits and it's doing a pretty good job. As to the screws and assembly, one screw is needed to attach the rake head to the handle and there is a hole drilled for that purpose; it's small but it's there. Also, SHEET METAL screws are supplied (one extra just in case). The sections are supposed to screw into each other without needing any other attachments. So, with all that said, what do I think of this rake? It's a decent rake IF the parts screw together and would be appropriate for light raking of leaves and grass. That's a big IF, however. ... show more

  • A good, sturdy leaf rake
Style: 1 pack-25tine
I am reviewing the BlumeTrec 18" garden leaf rake, metal. The rake arrives unassembled, so you'll have to put it together. It's very simple to do, even though the directions aren't very helpful. Make sure to insert the tube with the pre drilled hole into the rake head. The tube with one screw in end & one smooth end is for the rubber handle. Easy. The rake has some good weight to it & seems quite sturdy. The weight is not so heavy that it would cause fatigue. It is evenly balanced & makes the job a little easier. The tines are flexible & gather up the leaves & debris easily. If your lawn is Bermuda grass, be aware that the tines will grab the runners but the smooth underside lets them slip away if you go easy. I like that I'm able to adjust the length if I need to. Convenient when the grandkids want to help but a long handle makes it too unwieldy for them. This is a decent quality rake & well worth the money. And it's all metal, no plastic that only seems to last a season or two. *While assembling it, I noticed that the black paint on the handle gets scraped up when the pieces are twisted together. The damage is hidden in the overlap but it's still there. If you want the rake to last longer, best not to leave it out in the weather. I waxed the joints of the pole to help protect the bare metal from the humidity & such seeping in. ... show more

Terrible. Wasn't expecting to assemble and the size is laughable. Going to Lowe's to pick up the right rake now. Don't kidd yourself with this.

  • Light weight, easy to assemble
Style: 1 pack-25tine
The assembled handle, from tip of the handle to the bottom of the rake tines is 62.5” long. The rake at its widest is 18”. Four pieces easily screw into each other to make the handle. One piece has a small hole at the end, so the rake head can be attached with a machine screw (an extra screw is provided). It comes with a small tool to use as a Phillips screwdriver to attach this screw, but using a regular Phillips screwdriver is easier. Don’t over tighten this screw, since it will strip the hole it goes into on the handle. Note: When the handle is inserted into the rake, try not to do much twisting, because twisting scratches off the black paint on the handle, making it more susceptible to rust. A plastic end piece then fits onto the other end of the handle. Twist it such that the hanging hook is parallel to the rake for easy hanging. Everything is metal except this end piece. The 25 rake tines are long and wide, so they will gather leaves and other debris easily. They are bent to almost a 90˚ angle when holding the handle, which is a sharper angle than other rakes. The whole thing is fairly light weight at about 930g (2 lbs). The website says, "Adjustable long handle." It's only adjustable by leaving out one (or more) of the handle pieces (each piece is 12.5" long). I think the weak point of this garden rake is the point where the rake head is held onto the handle by the machine screw. ... show more
