UPDATE: STILL AWESOME. I just wanted to give an update now that I’m about 100 hours in - still going strong, still works perfectly, and still exactly what I need for the beefed-up Switch 2. Very comfortable for long Fallout 4 sessions. Battery life has also impressed me. I don’t have to charge the controller often. Essentially, it’s a wireless Bluetooth controller that’s designed to feel like the first gen Hori Split Pad Pro. Highly recommend if you really liked the Hori Split Pad Pro for the first Switch like I did. I preferred the compact version on my Switch 1, but this controller is more like the original split pad pro, which I feel is perfectly proportional to the Switch 2. 10/10! ~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~ Love this! So far I’m only about 10 hours in, so if anything changes, I’ll update this review. I play primarily in handheld mode and the Switch 2 original joycons feel too small for the size and weight of the console - which causes wrist pain after a short while. This controller feels amazing in my hands, much more proportional and comfortable to hold. It doesn’t add much more weight - I was surprised how light it is. The screen/console slides right into this and fits perfectly. Everything is functioning exactly as it should and it makes long gaming sessions so much more comfortable. Side note- the 👽 thumb caps were purchased separately on Amazon. They are made by GeekShare and I highly recommend!

I’d give this a 4.5 if I could. Since I can’t, I’m rounding up to a 5 because it’s easily better than a 4-star product. At $45, this is the most comfortable way to play the Switch 2 in handheld mode. It actually stopped me from spending way more on a Hyperion. The Pros • It stands up by itself • You can wake up the Switch 2. It works. It took me forever to figure out but once I figured it out, I was able to make a different Bluetooth controller wake up the Switch 2 also. It’s awesome. • This is the best-feeling controller for the Switch 2 outside of a Pro remote. It beats any of the joycon grips you see here on Amazon, including the dbrand ones as far as comfortably. • When you slide the console in, there are two locks on the back that keep everything in place. There is zero wiggle room, and it feels completely safe. • I’m very picky about responsiveness, and both the sticks and buttons are accurate. The back paddles are also easy to map and have a great feel to them. • You can change or turn off the RGB lights on the sticks. It’s a minor thing for me since I don’t care much about lighting, but it’s a nice touch. The Cons • Noise: The button presses are a bit loud. I play while my wife is sleeping nearby. It hasn’t woken her up, but they are definitely louder than a Pro controller. • Thumbstick Friction: When you move the left stick to the outer edge and rotate it, you can feel a bit of a "scrape." You don't hit that angle constantly, but it is slightly annoying when you do. The shortcomings are super minor. If you want a comfortable, high-quality handheld experience without paying a premium price, this is the one to get.

I think we all really wanted the split pad 2 from Hori, but we'll take what we can get since they seem to have no interest in Switch 2. This Gammeefy controller is surprisingly good for the price. I would have preferred something without a battery like the split pad so I didn't have to charge it. You also can't dock the switch with this controller attached, so that is another downside. Other than that, it's really a great controller. It's actually a little bigger and more ergonomic compared to the split pad, so that is a nice plus. The back paddles are much nicer than those on the split pad, so another win there. The wake functionality is janky to set up, but once you figure it out, it works. Be careful when programming the back paddles. I thought my controller was defective because it was making analog movements on it's own. I realized that I must have bumped the analog sticks after trying to program a hotkey because the unwanted movement was happening on a very specific time delay. I reprogrammed the back paddles and no issues since. Overall, it's a really nice controller and it goes on sale frequently. They also make a JC400 case that fits the switch when the controller is attached so you can keep them in the same case. The Butterfox case is what I have and it seems to be the slimmest option available.

I like this a lot. It's way more comfortable than the standard joycons, and I feel like I can actually play my Switch 2 in handheld mode now. However there are a few small issues that detract from it. 1. It doesn't fit in the dock. I knew this going in, but it does make it less convenient to use. 2. Technically it's not a joycon replacement, it's a giant bluetooth controller that you can fit the Switch 2 inside. Having to charge it separately is a bit of a hassle, but not a huge one. It is funny using it as a giant controller in docked mode though. 3. The analog stick range is a tad off. They seem to register 100% at about 75% of their physical travel distance. This makes them more sensitive than official controllers. Altering the dead-zone doesn't fix this, as that only affects the zero point of the sticks, not the outside edge values. The first two of those issues aren't a big deal, but the last one is a bigger issue to me. It makes everything feel just a tad off when playing. It's still a good product that I would recommend to anyone who wants something like the Hori Split Pad Pro on the Switch 1.

The Pro’s: It is much more comfortable to hold than the standard joy cons. The battery life is actually pretty great. Everything was perfect. But then… It stopped charging about 4 months after the return window ended. I take great care of my belongings. There is no damage to the item at all… it actually still worked perfectly until it would not recognize a charging cable and completely died (I tried multiple cables that worked fine for this previously and still work for other things so it’s definitely not a cable issue). I can’t find any way to contact Gammeefy or get support to troubleshoot the issue so I guess it’s just a loss. I’m going to purchase a couple other more expensive grips and joy con controller alternatives with hope that they last longer.

Update: I am reducing this to a 2 star feedback because the product is practically unuseable at this point due to the sheer pain it causes by creating and, subsequently, irritating calluses on both of my hands. I wasted money purchasing this and it is too late to return it, and I now have to spend even more money on an alternative one that doesnt have this horrible texture. Overall, this is a functional, budget option in a time of extremely limited availability of these types of grips for the Switch 2. Here is a bullet point breakdown of why I gave it a 4: Pros: 1. Lights are pretty! 2. Joysticks and buttons are responsive, ive had no lag 3. The 'lock' mechanism on the back keeps your Switch in place securely. 4. I had no compatibility issues and continue not to. 5. As an early, 3rd party option in the Switch 2's lifespan, this is a solid option buuuuut: Cons: 1. Biggest one: WHY do you have to charge this separately from the switch 2 itself? I had grips like this for my first switch console and ALL of them were hybrid charged with the Switch; none of them required separate charge. Expect your 'plug in' time to be doubled, if not tripled, when this grip charges OR expect that you need to have 2 charge cables because this grip sadly has its own charge port and draws no power from the switch itself. The other day, I forgot to charge this and my Switch was low so I literally had to play with two charge cables attached. I know this might seem nitpicky but it is, in my eyes, an inherent flaw that needs to remedied in future iterations, as it is incredibly frustrating to have to independently monitor the power on this grip. 2. The back buttons, while Im sure great for some, are annoying in their placement for me. Just while holding this grip, I indirectly push them without meaning to. I dont use them, so it doesnt do anything, but it does cause friction in my ands when Im gripping. 3. The grip itself, while ergonomic, has that grommeted, diamond pattern on it that I despise because it causes calluses. It would be better if the grip on this was smooth. I game for hours at a time and the patterned grip does massive discomfort to your hands. All in all, since there arent many options, this is a great start. But, you can count on it, as soon as there are other models that don't require independent charging and have a smoother grip, this one is going buhbye.

I love this deck. It is comfortable to hold and has no lag in game play. The battery life is also very long. Had one for my switch and got another for my switch 2. I couldn’t play handheld with out it.

I’m kind of torn writing this review, only because I’m not certain if my experience with this product is the outlier so to speak, are the problems relatively “common” or are they unique in that they’re super uncommon or just not something that shows up quick. I bought this controller right at a week from this review, I’ve had it in hand less than a week i think. I’ll start with the good: -it’s one of the few options of similar design that have released a model, or tweaked the original, to house the switch 2. -significantly better ergo, sticks felt better than joycon 2s. Button travel. Stick travel is nice. -solid price point. -solid buy if it’s the style your after (upgraded handheld). The bad: Again I’ve had this product less than a week. - the button for the lights, stopped functioning properly. Still works as far as mechanically (I think) because one of the ways you cycle the presets, and how you adjust brightness work, but it doesn’t work to just change the colors around. ( supposed to be one press, that cycles to the next preset.) -left joystick stopped functioning properly on day 2. Clicking L3, while pushing stick toward (was playing hogwarts trying to sprint) inputs left stick down (not click). So trying to sprint turns your character around and does nothing. - I’ve had problems literally every day, where i had changed the programming for [ML,MR]. And within an hour or 2 the programming either clears, or turns itself into a full macro, causing problems while playing. - the app is not great and UI for it is terrible. With that said, trying to do any trouble shooting via the app is a waste of time. I really like this controller a lot. The shape and feel are great, back buttons placed perfectly, sticks had good travel and feel. Solid case. However, I’ve played it arguable a little more than a regular common switch 2 player, since I’ve had it, but not remotely a crazy number. Additionally it hasn’t been dropped, near water or anything to damage or cause the problems I’m having. Either it was a lemon, and it’s not common at all, just short stick, or this controller is bound to become a headache. At $50,
