  • A really nice phone controller, but not a perfect one.
Size: X2 Pro
If you're looking at the GameSir X2 Pro, you've probably done some research on mobile gaming controllers and found a lot of people have recommend this one in particular. It's got better triggers than the GameSir X2, has a direct Type-C connection instead of Bluetooth, and overall just has a really nice look to it when flush with a phone like my Samsung S20 FE. There’s a lot to like with the controller, and after having testing it for several months now, with modern mobile games (Diablo Immortal, mainly), game streaming via Steam Link, and classic platformers/RPGs, I have to say that I’m pretty impressed with it as a whole. Gone of the days of clipping my phone to an Xbox One controller or, heaven forbid, using touchscreen controls for my favorite games. I haven’t experienced any hardware issues or problems with it as of yet, with that aforementioned Type-C connection doing a lot to diminish any noticeable input lag/delay. The build quality is solid and the buttons feel really nice. I’ve yet to find a use for the back buttons or the GameSir app, but it’s always nice to have options for button mapping. There’s a lot to like with this device. But all of that said, nothing’s perfect. And when you’re charging (what I consider to be) a premium price, I’m going to be a little more picky. The few issues I have with the X2 Pro aren’t deal-breakers for me personally, but should definitely be noted before you add it to your cart. Starting off with a relatively small nitpick, the controller can’t be used when your phone is in a case. Or, at least it can’t with my phone case, but mine is a pretty slim one. It is a little annoying to have to pop your phone in and out of a case all the time, but I knew that would be the case before purchasing. If you like living on the edge and don’t use a phone case, then you’ll be fine. This next issue is more a personal gripe, so I’ll set the scene. I was playing Diablo for a few hours and noticed that my battery was low. “No problem,” I thought, “I’ll just use the pass-through charging port.” But when I plugged it in while warping to an area, the controller disconnected for a good 5-10 seconds before reconnecting to the game. This was the first time I had plugged it in and I had no clue that happened, so before I realized what was happening, I was getting attacked by enemies and frantically trying to figure out why my controller stopped working. Sure enough, whenever you plug in the controller, it turns off and back on. Not a huge problem in the grand scheme of things, but maybe don’t plug it in mid-match. Lastly, and most importantly, the ergonomics of the device aren’t the best. Don’t get me wrong, they’re fine. I’ve used this controller for hours without any issue or cramps. But I couldn’t help but miss the handles on my Xbox controller when using the X2 Pro. Something more along the lines of the Backbone One’s shape, where your hands could wrap around the bottom, would do wonders for this controller and easily bump it into 5 star territory. I will admit that I have very little experience with phone controllers, with the GameSir X2 Pro being my first and only experience with one. I can only report my own personal experience with it, and I have to say that I’m really happy with my purchase. There are a lot of phone gaming controllers on Amazon these days and the X2 Pro is highly rated for a reason. So while it may miss in some regards, it’s still a solid contender if you’re looking for some mobile gaming on the go. ... show more

  • Great Fit for Galaxy S23 Ultra (with Case), Not So Much My Large Hands
Size: X2 Pro
I just upgraded my phone from the Galaxy S9+ which I would use with the original Kishi. That combination worked PERFECTLY, with a case on, and felt great in my hands, too. My new phone, the S23 Ultra, was not compatible with the Kishi as the phone is too large. This lead me to look for alternatives, but just about every option I've seen will not fit the S23 Ultra (or most other large phones) unless you take the phone out of the case. This seems to be a major oversight by all these mobile controller manufacturers as who in their right mind would have a $1400 phone without a case or want to constantly take it in and out of the case to fit into a game controller? Not me! After much research, I read that the Gamesir X2 Pro would fit the S23 Ultra with select cases if you modify the controller by cutting off part of the rubber next to the USB-C plug. I did this, since the rubber pieces get in the way of the plug and are pointless if you have a case, and it worked flawlessly. Connects to my S23 Ultra with the CASE ON and holds it tight. It also works with every game I've tried, including streaming services such as Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation Remote Play, and Steam Link. My only complaint with this controller, and it's a pretty big one, is that it has very poor ergonomics and is not comfortable to hold in my hands. This likely won't be an issue for everyone, but I have very large hands and with this controller lacking some sort of side grips, I cannot grip it comfortably without having my hands in awkward positions that lead to cramps. I especially liked that this controller has back buttons, as I've come accustomed to controllers with back buttons, but I cannot use them because I cannot get my large hands/fingers to move in a way to comfortably click them. With all this said, I find myself in quite the predicament...my phone is too big for all the other mobile controllers and my hands are too big for this controller. While I do like this controller over all, I have not quite decided whether or not I will be keeping it. For reference, I wear XL size gloves. If you wear S/M gloves, I have no doubt you will love this controller and I would highly recommend it. If you wear L gloves, you may be pushing your luck in terms of comfort. ... show more

  • Works with Pixel 8 Pro!
Size: X2 Type-C
I got this controller for use with my old phone (Pixel 6 Pro) and while it did work with that, it didn't fit smoothly, and the angle of the charging port while in the case wasn't great. However! My new Pixel 8 Pro fits wonderfully and in it's case! Using it felt just like using a switch controller for push and feel. Only other downside I have for this is, putting your device in is a bit awkward. All in all, I'm enjoying it and would recommend! ... show more

  • Great controller for my Android phone
Size: X2 Pro
I bought this to play Xbox games on my Ultra 23 phone. The controller feels of very good quality from the sticks to each button. The phone isn't too hard to get into the controller although it's much easier if you take your phone out of it's case. Some people might not want to take their phone of out it's case to use this controller, but for me it's not a big deal. I use minimal cases always and my Ultra 23 actually did fit in the controller with the case on, but wasn't the best or most secure fit. Without the case it fits perfect and secure with no issues at all. The functionality of the sticks and button is precise and spot on, I've no issues whatsoever. The only slight bad thing I could say is the design is such that after longer periods of play your hands and arms may get uncomfortable holding the controller, especially if you have a heavier phone. That's not a deal breaker for me however. I really like this product and would recommend it to anyone. ... show more
