I was using an old yoga mat that was supposedly non slip but as I started to practice more I knew I needed something better. This one is much better as far as slippage. Of course you can still slip, I don’t know if any mat can completely prevent that, but I slip very little with this mat. It is hard sometimes using it on my carpet as the mat we’ll stick to me more in certain positions so the mat itself will slide slightly when I move. Also, was hesitant to purchase because of all the reviews about the smell. While it did have a smell I found it to be pretty on par with the material it is. It was not overpowering & really didn’t bother me too much & the more it aired or the better it got. The mat is so beautiful too so that was just a plus. Beautiful. The plastic scent is SUPER mild so I know it will go away completely soon as I air it out. Sticky! I already tested out with downward dog which lots of people said it was slipping and I had no issues on my tile floor. (Mind you I have laminate at my house but staying with my parents currently they have tile floor, so might be different once I go back home). My hands and feet stick to the mat but in a good way. I have a good grip but I can shift from position to position with ease. The thickness is good. I have arthritis in my knees so I was concern about the thickness but it doesn’t hurt my knees which is great. I’m boney in the hips and spine so a lot of times the positions on my back that need rocking or shifting with the weight on the lower back and hips area usually hurts and it’s the same with this mat though, definitely would be much better with a thicker mat. However, that’s just my body. So I’m SUPER SUPER HAPPY with my purchase. I HIGHLY recommend you try it out. It has life time warranty which is great and if you don’t like just return to Amazon within the return policy. It’s not expensive so it’s worth the try! ... show more

Bought this to replace my previous Gaiam mat which lasted me 7 years before the lighter color started looking too worn down at the hands and feet. This dark blue is pretty and the mat itself is cushy but still stable, love it and can’t beat the price.

I have degenerative disc disease, and this offers great padding for my yoga and physical therapy. The "plastic" or "rubber" smell of the new mat dissipated quickly after a few uses. It's a pretty pattern, too.

I have been using this yoga mat for sessions at home. I have hard tile on concrete, and I like to take care of my things, so whenever I use it I clean my floor and then I set the mat. A clean floor that is dust free really permits the mat to grip the floor. The design on the mat is beautiful, and that's one of the reasons I selected it. However, this mat is not thick enough, as I have been feeling a lot of discomfort on my hands and my knees during certain poses.
