I am just getting back into testing oil painting after using acrylic and watercolor for a while, so I am still getting to know the paint accessories again. These brushes are okay, but I did have trouble with cleaning them. You get a nice variety, although I could have used a few smaller types, and you get the knife along with the case for them. I have no trouble spreading paint, and they seem to do well covering a canvas. I did notice when I went to wash them off the first time that they seemed to be holding onto more paint that I expected to see because nothing was going off of them onto my canvas, and I would have to keep getting more paint on them. They seemed to be storing it in the middle of the bristles somehow, which I have not seen before with other brushes. I also had trouble using my normal wash for oil paint to get the paint off. I had to scrub so hard on them I am afraid they will wear out fast. I am going to test some more brands before I use these again. It may just be myself not being as used to oil painting that is the issue, so I would compare reviews. ... show more

This is a great set for $20 — the selection of brush sizes and shapes is quite good, especially with the addition of a nice, sturdy palette knife. I would consider these more student-grade brushes, and good for a textured, brushier style of painting — these hogs bristle brushes seem a bit roughly cut but appropriately stiff, and the set includes a couple round nylon brushes for smoother, more blended work. They are all holding together pretty well so far, so as long as they don't start shedding a ton as they see more use, I'd say they're a good value. ... show more

Brushes like these are not just for the artist. Woodworking finishes can require brushwork, as do a variety of other handmade items. While I am still learning to oil paint, these brushes are ok to add to a growing collection. They are smaller tipped in size and takes an experienced hand to use correctly, but it is all a matter of time and practice.

Nice variety of brushes. Different sizes and types, only two are soft bristles, the rest are hard, but also they are Natural Chungking Hog Bristles. The handles are wood (polished birch). It comes with a case, with some Velcro but not instructions on how it stands up. Nice price for value.

This is a nice set of assorted natural brushes for the budding artist, or someone who wants to look like an artist! It includes a simple pallet knife and a handsome case as well. The bristles are well attached to the handle as well. I think it should have a few finer brushes in the set, but what do I know - I can paint the living room but any work of art looks like a ... living room! For just 20 bucks, this is one heck of a deal, I've paid up to around 50 bucks for a single brush - so I'm well versed is them. I do prefer the longer/longest handles on all my brushes, but short handles aren't something to complain about. I have an old brush I inherited from a mentor/teacher but had no idea what the bristles were - now I know. These are going to see decades of use from me and will likely last long enough to pass on to another generation apprentice/student - same as I've gotten brushes. Good, serious quality brushes can be passed on like other tools, ,as long as one always takes proper care of them. ... show more

These paint brushes are really nice. You get twelve different types of brushes in a nice case that holds all of them in place. They absorb paint really well and brush across a canvas with ease. The brushes feel a little rough, but they paint with no problem. I like them and two of our teens like using them as well. ... show more
