They're crayons and markers basically. If you use a crayons to fill in a deep scratch you can't use a marker over it as the water based marker won't work on a wax crayon. Luckily I didn't have any deep scratches to deal with so the markers worked for what I needed. Color match was ok but not perfect. Definitely use a damp paper towel or cloth to wipe off excess marker immediately after filling in the scratch like others have suggested or you'll have dark lines on either side of your scratch. I moved into an apartment with some cosmetic damage to the espresso kitchen cabinets. I bought this set to try to fix the issue but there is not a color that matches well. My fault for not reading the description closer but from the pictures, one of the markers looks espresso. It’s also a common cabinet color so I think it’s odd to not include it. I used the maple marker for this piece and it looks so much better! Almost new! I just kept an old rag in my hand and wiped over every little mark I made immediately. Worked really well. 👍🏻

To be fair I didn’t use this on wood. We had taped something to the blade of the ceiling fan while trying to build a sheet fort, and it got ripped off a little too fast and pulled the wood grain finish off of the blade revealing what looked like an unstained particle board. This masks it well enough to not be blatantly visible like the off-white board material was when exposed, but if you look for it, you can definitely still see it. It might work better on actual wood which it is intended for so I only took off one star. It’ll be nice to have it on hand for other scratches on furniture or hardwood flooring. I wonder hope long they will store before the markers dry out. It’s nice that they come with crayons too to help blending the colors. ... show more

Good price. Used the crayon on my side table where the stain is wearing off. Not exact color but better than no finish at all! The oly thing I noticed is that it dies wear off occasionally so I’ve had to reapply at least 2 times already.

Making sure that you’re matching it correctly definitely takes a bit of practice, so definitely start small so that you know how it will look best. That’s one thing I wish I had done first. It’s effective enough where the scratches are not obvious, but if you don’t match it well, you may still catch it here and there. ... show more
