My six kids were all very curious and climbed everything at an early age. They were very strong and very heavy, so when I saw these, I knew I needed to get them for my grandkids. I am all about teaching children to learn what they should should not do, but it wouldn’t comes to baby proofing, this is on a different level. I don’t want them getting hurt to figure things out. These are also very easy to move and change if you need to release it so you can clean or move things around. I actually purchased this for our big freeze dryer because it’s as big as a washing machine, but it’s on a tall table. I know this would hold up a bookshelf, wardrobe or cabinet to create a safer environment for your children or pets. Our "children" are now young 30 years old adults so we didn't get these furniture anchors for them. We used to have those cabinet or drawer locks when they were younger and when they got old enough, I removed them as I felt they "slowed" me down when opening cabinets and drawers. We did anchor down some taller furniture but never had to anchor our televisions but that's probably because they were the older clunky and heavy boxes and the few panel types we got weren't super huge. Now with a slightly expensive 60" panel tv and two very active older (almost a year old) half sibling kittens who love to play (more than the three older ones did!), watching too many youtube or instagrams of crazy cats knocking down and break computers and tvs convinced us that we needed to anchor that tv since it sits on top of the bedroom dresser. I could just see the look in those kitties eyes that they wanted to jump on top of the tv. Or if they see a bird, cat or other interesting animal on the tv screen they'll jump towards it. And since this is California, we do get our fair share of occasional earthquakes too. These anchors will save our tv from toppling and also save the kitties (or your young kids!) from possibly being hurt or even killed by the falling tv. Easy to install and a good value at less than $20 for the 20 pack!

these became my obsession when i became a father. I've read the horror stories of kids being killed, and i actually have a friend whose child broke his nose when climbing furniture. I, like most parents, made the assumption that my superior parenting skills meant this wouldn't be a worry, but then I had a son. If anyone doubts that we evolved from monkeys, they need to meet him. He's found that it's really no issue to reach the top shelf of any furniture, with a chair or two, and a well placed foot. It's really important to know, that pretty much all furniture, no matter how well made and stable it feels, with a small boy hanging off the front, has a poor center of balance. With movement, they can easily tip forward, and seriously hurt your kid. I do not rely on these hooks alone to save their life, it's a constant challenge to explain to him that this is dangerous behavior, but while he is getting better, these give me a peace of mind, that in his moments of poor-decision making, these anchors ensure our furniture isn't going to give him the lesson he might never return from.

I like these anchors in general. In particular, I appreciate that they are removable and allow me to move the furniture around later which many other anchors make much more difficult. However, these have one significant disadvantage, the metal loop that is used to attach the two core parts of the anchor leave a lot of wiggle room. Certainly enough wiggle room for anything on the furniture to fall off. I think that these would benefit from something like a metal zip-tie. My solution was to combine the metal loop with a tightened zip-tie. This way, the zip-tie keeps the furniture stable, and the metal loop functions as a fail-safe in case the zip-tie is not strong enough.

The instructions say "Easy and Practical" and that really does sum it up. When the littlest started pulling up on furniture and walking holding onto furniture I was worried about him pulling anything over on himself. He would yank on things so hard. Such a small little product takes the risk out and I fell so much safer with him grabbing onto things. This is so easy to install, It's a bracket on the wall and the item you want to secure and a cord looped through the two. Easy! I haven't been able to pull anything over and I tried to be sure he couldn't.
