I purchased two of these for my home office/game room. They were very affordable, and the color is nice. Additionally, they were easy to put together for the most part. That being said, they do seem a bit flimsy--the instruction manual itself says that each shelf can only hold 15lbs--so I would not want to use this for books or anything heavy. Additionally, as can be expected at this price, they're particle board, and several of the pieces don't line up particularly well. Also, one of the bottom pieces (labeled B) didn't have the holes marking where to attach the part that goes along the ground in the front (part C), and in the other package, one of the little plastic feet didn't have a nail in it. Overall, for the price and what I got them for, these are fine. I wouldn't put them in a living room or somewhere like that, nor would I put anything heavy (like books) on them, but for a home office, bedroom, or game room, these could be a decent option. ... show more

I had books all over my house and in the course of creating a work/office space, I decided to consolidate my books. Went to the habitat for humanity restore and a few estate sales, but in both cases the cost was high and not sufficient without mix match cases. Seeing these, I decided to give them a try and ordered two. I figured the cost wasn't significant and they only need to hold books. Assembly was about 15 minutes per. Pleased with the first two, I ordered an additional two. I extremely recommend using a handheld screwdriver because it is a low amount of torque to go from tight to wrung out. A power screwdriver will strip the screw hole quickly. I also only nailed around the perimeter on the back. The shelf thickness isn't very thick and would be easy to miss when nailing. When I attached the cases together, I predrilled and countersunk each hole; otherwise, the thin veneer with chip. I also cut down each screw, so that it would not penetrate through the other case. Now my books are in one location and they cabinetry looks uniformed for a very reasonable cost. ... show more

    • Cheap and basic--good for simple, utiliarian needs

I bought two of these shelves in warehouse deals (came to about $40 total) which was cheaper than buying one of those nine cube DIY units from my local store, and they were a better height than the smallest IKEA shelf I had access too. I needed some relatively short shelves to help better utilize some space in my bedroom, and these satisfy that need pretty well. Things to consider and keep in mind: - Easy to assemble, especially if you have any experience building any IKEA furniture. Just need a screw driver, hammer, and a little patience to line up the hardware with the pre-drilled holes. Only took me like 20 minutes to make two. - I did misalign a screw and it carved out a chunk of the wood, but I caught it early enough to correct it without too much woe, so it's not a foolproof assembly. - Can be very affordable, but also oddly expensive. I'd wait for the price to drop or for a warehouse deal on a used set. These aren't worth more than $15-$25. Currently, this model is $29 at the time I'm writing this review and some sellers are even asking for $40+ and it's not worth it. You can get a huge IKEA billy of much better quality for $50. - Nice color array available; I got "americano" and short of scrutinizing it closely, it reads as black in color. - Acceptable build quality; it is, of course, particle board furniture and could probably be destroyed by too much weight being stacked on it, but so far my shelves have performed well at holding things like my makeup, a few small boxes of art supplies, a few paperbacks on the bottom shelf, etc. - The shelves themselves are not adjustable once screwed in place, nor can you adjust the height prior unless you measure and drill new holes yourself. - The shelves came packed in Styrofoam that absolutely disintegrated and was a huge mess, so be careful when opening the boxes; maybe have a vacuum on hand. Overall, they're basic little DIY shelves. They look okay, they perform well. Definitely a cheap, fast solution if you need a shelf that isn't too big. The insert recommends no more than like 20 lbs per shelf, so if you want to use it for books, I'd be mindful to not load it with anything too heavy. ... show more

I bought four of these to shelve my books and love them. Very easy to put together, good and sturdy for flat pack shelves. Most bookshelves are way deeper then they need to be for hardcovers, much less paperbacks, and take up an annoying amount of wasted floor space because of that. Each individual shelf was tall enough to hold standard and even slightly taller hardcovers and trade paperbacks easily. Not many "oversized" volumes, but I expected that. All four were bought from the warehouse, so they were returns and the packaging was obliviously not perfect (one had been re-packed). And one did not have all the needed screws, but I was able to use some basic hardware store wood screws as substitutes with no ill-effects. For 40$ it was fine. You get what you payed for so ya. All but 2 of the frames had chips and one had a scratch. Although it wasn’t easy to notice it. It was easy to assemble, and it was sturdy. It has nice wide and long shelf. Also the package materials are not the best and it gets damaged easily. Mine was covered with it and it was a pain to clean. So it looks nice and for 30$ I saw go for it but do know it will come damaged in one way or another. ... show more

It's a cute little bookshelf. Definitely not the highest quality, you can tell it's very cheap just by looking at it, but it holds my books nicely and looks good. I only had a few issues with the backing nails destroying the very thin plywood in one corner of the shelves and one of the corners of the side pieces being broken. Nothing some wood glue couldn't fix, though. Only took maybe 30 minutes to build. Definitely worth $30 for some shelving we desperately needed lol. ... show more
