The adjustable shelf itself is 5/8 (or 10/16) of an inch thick. The interior dimensions of the section with the adjustable shelf (**with the shelf removed**) are 14 and 15/16 inches high, and 22 and 1/4 inches wide. It's a nice little storage case--sturdy if you put it together correctly--but I had to put the adjustable shelf aside because the items I'm stacking in there don't leave the 5/8" required for it. That's fine; I'll find another use for the shelf and the case itself does what I bought it for. I've ordered several Furrino pieces, and have been happy with all of them; just don't expect plastic or particle board to perform like solid oak. ... show more

    • Poor quality paint finish!!! Tricky to build.

If not for the fact that I fits perfectly in the spot where I need it; I would return it. Not happy with the finish. I put a glass of iced tea for a minute on the surface and it bubble up a little and lost some of the paint when I lifted the glass. Luckily, I had some "white-out" and touched up the spot. Be careful with the finish since it can get marred easily. Not water resistant at all! Another thing I like to mention was that the bottom of the shelf does not have plastic tabs to keep it away from the floor. This is not a good idea since the bottom finish will scratch if it's not on a rug. A little tricky building this. Don't rush to get it built. Pay attention to the illustrations since the instructions are just pics. Lay out the parts to get an idea of what part is front and back as well as top and bottom. I ordered this product to minimize the space it took up in a closet and, at the same time, maximize storage space. The best features are the different size storage spaces, the 12” deep shelves and the back, even though it is cardboard. I bought 2 units, stacked them (glued them together) and secured them to the wall. I’m so glad I bought them and am going to buy two more for another closet. ... show more

I purchased this bookcase for my grandson’s books at my house. The build instructions were easy to follow and I was able to put it together without a second person needed. The bookshelf is not heirloom quality but very serviceable for current use.

I realize this a cheap little bookshelf, but cheap is giving it too much credit. If you intend to have it where people can see it, might not be for you. Came all scratched so ordered another. It was scratched also so I managed to switch out pieces to make it work. But it you look or breath on it, it leaves marks and scuffs. It is not black on all sides and the directions don’t really say that so you can really mess up & have to go back if you don’t pay attention. Mine will be used in closet to organize files because I like the style /shape and it’s perfect for my needs. I haven’t found one like this anywhere else or I would try the other place. There is no fixed shelf in the middle to give support and make this a sturdy unit. This wobbles from side to side. Everything is properly aligned and tightened. Waste of money. Wish I could return.
