All parts received undamaged. Amazon packed the box inside another protective box. Everybody knows you use a HAIR DRYER TO REMOVE LABELS ON ANYTHING. I wanted to use the cover dots on the outside of the cabinet so I used a COUNTERSINK ( a drill-like accessory for a power screwdriver or drill, that makes a pocket for the screw head ). YOU MUST USE A COUNTERSINK ON THE HOLES IF YOU WANT THEM FLUSH. YOU CANNOT TIGHTEN THEM ENOUGH AND EXPECT THEM TO SINK INTO THE WOOD WITHOUT SNAPPING…. If you just want them to stay slightly raised, only snug them tight. When inserting a screw, rub the threads on a bar of soap to ease them in. When using the screwdriver, make sure it is perfectly straight up, so it does not send the threads through the side of the thin edges. IF IT STARTS CROOKED, REMOVE THE SCREW AND FILL THE HOLE WITH A TOOTH PICK OR SLIVER OF WOOD, then re-drive it. I have been successfully assembling D.I.Y furniture for decades without problems.

TIP: When you build this bookcase, keep in mind that THE BACK PANELS NEED TO BE IN THOSE SLOTS and you can't really push them in from behind when all the board pieces are together, so AS you're building it, slide in the back panels and then continue putting it together. Don't be like me and wait until the last minute to realize this. Also, don't forget to tighten the cam screws. Anyway, the assembly took about 75 minutes and I did it by myself. (Screwing by hand takes awhile when you're a weakling like me.) The instructions were fairly straightforward and I had no missing parts. I skipped the last part about putting in the corner braces since there were no guide holes to help me. (It's optional anyway.) I placed mine on its side since it works better for my space that way. I'm worried the shelves will sag over time from the weight of my books, but I figure it'll take a few years before it becomes noticeable. I don't intend to put too many books on the shelves in any case. Overall, this was a good purchase.

It's a cute and sturdy shelf, put together with screws, thin plywood backing instead of cardboard. That earned it 5 stars. It lost a star when I found that it's not really all pink on the inside. Normally, you wouldn't be able to tell, but I wanted to turn it sideways and use it for an entertainment center. The white underside of the inner shelvings can be seen. It lost another star when i realized just how small this shelf is. I thought. The squares would be 11x11x11, like all the other cube organizers I've had experience with, and as i wanted to put it up against another ok ne with these measurements, it ended up being about 3-4 inches too short in length and width against my 9 cube shelf. Finally, the third star was lost when I discovered that my TV did not set sturdy in the center of the shelf due to some warping, and I had to place it to the side instead. I did add pictures with measurements. All in all, finding fabric cubby boxes that fit into this thing like I wanted wont be easy either.

While this is indeed a fiberboard shelving unit for a bargain price, that doesn't preclude the maker from fully disclosing the actual look of the finished piece. The screws are attached directly across from the shelves themselves, and stickers are provided to cover only 16 of the 22 screw heads. Neither the stickers, nor the remaining exposed screws are illustrated in the photos, which make it appear that the sides of the unit are completely smooth. Will this work as a shelf? Sure. But does it look like the pictures? Absolutely not. Still deciding if I'm going to disassemble the entire product and return it, companies with this level of false advertising should be forced to cover their own returns costs, and update their listings.

The cabinet itself isn't too bad and reasonably sturdy, but there are a number of quality issues that make it deserving of this low rating. To begin with, I didn't think the instructions were very clear, but were manageable. The pieces themselves had some nicks that will require touch-up and it looked like there were a few other areas that had already been touched up somehow (or unevenly painted perhaps). There were also missing stickers (used to cover up the screwheads), so some of the screws still show. I might expect things like this from a cabinet at this price point, right? But the big thing that gets this low rating from me: One set of holes was completely mis-drilled which prevented me from attaching one of the shelves (on one of the sides). I bought this for my mother and I assembled it at her home. Now, she cannot use the shelf until I make the 70 mile trip to bring my drill and re-drill the holes. If I could send it back, just on principle alone, I would... But now it's assembled, in her home, so I guess just deal with it, right? >:(

This is a good storage cabinent. It has a good design overall. It can be used horizontally or vertically. I would not use it to hold very heavy things.
