  • Good enough for a low budget apartment
Color: White/Green Size: 5-Tier
I actually got three of these green shelves and they seem pretty consistent. I feel like my photos don't do the color justice because it's really a soft light green, and these make it look more like a sharp yellowish-green. I do like the color. And as others have mentioned, it is a bit of a shame that the directions aren't clear about the direction to connect the shelves. I had to reference the photo that showed how all the pieces will attach as well as coming back to this page to see how the colors align in order to make sure I was doing it right (especially in those first steps for the top shelves). They're pretty decent shelves as far as having a good amount of space on each shelf, the height, and being small enough to fit in a small apartment yet actually helpful for storage. The assembly is straightforward if you have experience with these kinds of projects but I had a few concerns. I believe the biggest problem is that it gives you the exact amount of all the pieces, meaning that if some come broken, you're just out of luck. Usually for shelves there will be one extra of most pieces. As shown, I did have a couple come broken and a wooden peg that split when I tried to use the mallet. With all three, I struggled when connecting the top shelves to the bottom shelves. When connecting, the circular metal connectors (I don't recall the exact name for them) are meant to turn 180° to secure the screws. But not a single one on any of them could. It felt like I was going to break the shelf itself, or threatened to strip those connectors. So there's a small gap there on each one, and nothing I tried was able to get them to connect snuggly. That and trying to screw in those black pieces behind the shelf were the hardest parts. It was pretty hard trying to screw into the shelf with no prep hole, with the screwdriver right up against the shelf with no room to hold it well. This shelf should have been really easy to put together (especially for someone like me with a lot of experience assembling furniture), but I ended up having hand cramps a few times. All-in-all they're what I needed so it will be fine. I just have to be careful with the one that has the broken peg since that one will be less safe (especially because it's at the part that can't connect properly). I do suggest getting your own straps to secure these to the wall, especially if you have kids or pets, because they're only stable as long as it doesn't get pushed on. Edit - I forgot to mention that the wood is a bit rough around the edges. The photo shows discoloration on the green, and that part feels really rough. And that is something that was consistent on all the shelves of the three units that I bought. It isn't necessarily a deal breaker for me, but it's something that you should be aware of before making a decision. ... show more

  • Glad I got it, despite some reviews
Color: White Size: 3-Tier Cube
I was looking for a bookcase for my son that would store books, but also display his lego creations. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, and this was the best price, and looks similar to ones at Target...probably not the same size, but I liked the size and am looking to mix and match bookcases. I ultimately want to buy 3 difference shelves, but after reading some reviews, I only bought the small 3 cube shelf to start. Here is some observations: 1. Yes, this shelf looks big in the pictures, but is smaller in real life Make sure to read the measurements. I was happy with the height because it is next to my son's bed, like a nightstand. 2. It is not too hard to assemble, but an extra set of hands to hold the boards together can help. I had it together in 15 minutes. 3. If you take your time and try to get the screws in straight so the head lays flat again the board, the stickers lay nicer over the screws and are less noticeable. 4. Be careful nailing on the back. I loved the look of others that put contact paper on the back, so I put that on before attaching, then nailed in the back. I got a little too confident on the last one and was a little too close to the outside edge, and the white of the board puffed out a little. Thankfully it will butt up against another shelf so I am not too upset. 5. The bins are not standard size bins (if you look at the measurements they are approx 9x9x8), but based on another review I went to the dollar tree and found bins that fit, in several colors (red, blue, teal, pink, purple and green). 6. Large books do not fit standing up or laying flat. I hope to get the 7-cube with the larger shelf, and hopefully will be able to put them there. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase, and will buy the other shelves based on my experience with this one. ... show more

  • Worth the price
Color: White Size: 7-Cube
I got the 5 square one and the 7 square one. I'll be using them for toy shelves and they are a great size for it. Are the the best shelves ever? No. Are they worth the $32 and $39 I spent on them?Definitely. They seem sturdy enough to hold up, should my toddler try to climb it. My biggest issue, on both of them, were a couple of the pilot holes were just the slightest bit off. Don't be like me. Don't rush it. The wood is too cheap to force a screw in. If the hole is off, drill a new pilot hole. I forced one of the screws and it went through and chipped a piece of wood off. I had to woodglue the piece back on. ... show more

  • Assembles easy looks ok
Color: White Size: 7-Cube
This was a basic "dowel and screw" assembly for a product that will do the job. I needed something with specific dimensions so was limited in my options. This one was the best fit and I'm good with it even though it's nothing too pretty or fancy. Once assembled it holds together extremely well but it definitely needs to be anchored as it will wobble easily. The white stickers used to cover up the screws are too small. They do cover the screws but the screws themselves don't lay flush (and they are in TIGHT) so the sticker doesn't secure to the wood itself. From a distance and at a glance, you can't tell, but they're obvious if you're looking. They also don't provide stickers to cover the larger locking screws. The cubbies are a decent size. Would work very well as a bookshelf or place for video games or Blu-rays. Picture with amiibo (3" tall) for scale. ... show more

  • Decent shelf, came with imperfections.
Color: White/Light Blue Size: 5-Tier
I bought this shelf to display some of my sons lego builds in his room. It's pretty sturdy compared to some comparably priced shelving units. The pre drilled holes all line up. I was pleasantly surprised that the back panels slid into place rather than being nailed on. The blue is a bit lighter irl, than shown in the stock photo. It came with several imperfections. It looks like some type of grease set in, where the predrilled holes are, on about half of them. One side piece came with a few minor scratches revealing the white underneath. One corner came with a small chip. I tried to gently peel off the sticker label, the one with a letter on it to match up with the instructions, but the blue came off with it so I left the rest on for now. ... show more
