I was hoping this would take care of two problems: a too hard mattress and a hot mattress topper. It is definitely an improvement in the cooling category and it is very comfortable. However, by itself, my mattress was still too hard. I had to use it on top of my old My Pillow mattress topper to take the most pressure off my back, hips and knees. So, I definitely would recommend it for a cooler sleep, but it doesn't cushion enough on its own for a very firm mattress. ... show more

I got this mattress topper bc we have an extra firm mattress and needed a bit more cushion. The topper does allow for a bit more give, however it will not magically cure aches and pains, although I am tossing and turning less. It is definitely giving a reprieve from our new extra firm ( concrete) Tempur- Pedic mattress and I highly recommend. However, I am getting a foam layer to put underneath it bc I would like a very soft bed. The material and make of the topper seems to be stellar quality. It just happened to not agree with my back. Quality was great, but I woke up with back ache that lasted all day. 2 or 3 nights after removal, my back was back to normal. I am not saying it would happen to everyone, may just be me.
