Took a hint from previous reviewers and tightened the valve nut. No leaks in either grommet or petcock. Knob could be knurled deeper, and was hard to turn at first. Worked great to replace the leaking bushing/fuel valve on my Coleman Powermate 4000 watt generator. Wasn't sure if it was the valve or the bushing leaking so this kit takes care of both in one shot. The hardest part was removing the old bushing. Installation was a breeze. You can remove the old bushing without removing the fuel tank but it may require some colorful language, tongue and groove pliers and a flathead screwdriver. When installing: 1. Drain the gas first (if you forgot this step it will quickly be apparent when you pull the bushing out) 2. Pull the old bushing and fuel valve out (I used pliers to pull on the fuel valve and then worked around the bushing with a flat screw driver, don't stab your gas tank) 3. Push the new bushing in BEFORE installing the fuel valve. 4.Route and attach your fuel line and hose clamp to the fuel valve nipple. 5. Ensure nut on fuel valve is snug (very important or else you'll panic because it leaks gas. Ask me how I know for details) 6. NOW push fuel valve up into the fuel tank bushing. Try not to squish the fuel filter screen. Doing it this way helps ensure you aren't fiddling with hose clamps with zero room to move them around. Happy wrenching. ... show more

I installed a Honda CX500 Gas tank on my 2005 Kawasaki Ninja, and this paired with a brass nipple fitting mounted to the tank created the perfect poor mans petcock to feed my carbs fuel.     • Tank Grommet & Shut Off/On Worked Great on a Generation 1 DR Field & Brush Mower
Started getting a slow drip from the fuel tank on my DR Fuel & Brush Mower after 15 plus years of use. So I called DR Parts Department and they said they no longer had the Fuel Grommet and Shut Off/On for my early 2000's DR Field & Brush Mower and their solution was to sell me a tank conversion kit for around $220 before shipping. F'in Crazy! I found this product here on Amazon and it fit my Generation 1 DR Field & Brush Mower perfectly! I measured the fuel line opening for the grommet on the fuel tank on my mower and it was 33/64" and this part worked just fine as well as saving me well over $200! I just installed it today, so I can't say how long it will last, but for the price you can't beat it! ... show more

    • Good replacement for clogged petcock
Worked great. Came with fine mesh filter like the original. Mine had clogged up, but that's what it is supposed to do when there are impurities in the gas. I added a in-line filter but the internal screen serves a important purpose inside the tank. Any debris like a leaf or the seal from a gas additive bottle can float over and obstruct the gas flow. No good when you are depending on your generator. For the install. The valve fits tight in the grommet by design. My dad's trick is to use a dab of dielectric silicon gel. Slides right on and the silicon absorbs into the grommet keeping it nice and soft. Also, as other reviewers have stated check the nut in-front of the shut-off valve. Mine was hand tight, it didn't leak but with a loose nut that is simply an inevitability. ... show more

grommet and valve fit fine, actual turning of valve required pliers, very stiff. using an inline fuel switch instead, using this just as a bulkhead fitting
