I ordered the mulch plug at the same time that I ordered the EGO Power+ T6 42" tractor. Even though the page for the plug said it was for the Z6 (ZTR), the mower decks are the same and it fits perfectly. Even though the instructions say to leave the chute in place that's used to directly grass clippings when you don't have a mulching plug, I removed the chute (to keep it looking neat). Only took about 2 minutes to put the plug in place. It fits securely and stays in place very nicely. With the plug in place, the mower does a great job of mulching. It's easy to clean, too. I'm very happy with it--if you want to mulch with with either the T6 or Z6 42", you will be too! ... show more

Though this is the only bagger available for the Z6 (bar or e-steer), it is good quality overall, very functional and easy to build and install (or remove). The bins just set in place and are secured by the closed lid. However I worry about the thinness of the plastic lip around the bags, and that the handle could break, as the plastic is a bit flexible, so I am careful when I slide them out full and grab with the other end as well. You can easily access the battery compartment by just lifting the one bag up. The 2 mounting poles just slide in, but can stick. For removing, it is best to remove the pins that hold the bagging enclosure first, then pull the rack out, else it can be awkward. There is a viewable section of the chute, so you can see the volume of grass moving, or if there is a clog. Releasing the strap and separating for unclogging or cleaning is easy. There is another rubber strap behind the deck eject port used for attachment. It is not difficult to remove the lower section of the tube from the deck, so long as you have already removed the upper section. Overall, the process is pretty easy to remove the bagger, and takes less then 5 minutes to put back on when needed, but removal is much faster. It makes the mower louder, due to the resonance and all of the deck noise going up the tube, but is still quieter than a gas mower. Obviously, it adds width to the right side, so you can't fit through the same spaces, and when riding uneven ground, be mindful that if going by a tree, the bagger on the left side sticks out further than the rear tire. As for length, the bagger does not add any. It includes weights for the front, but it is debatable if they are needed. I may remove mine. The bagger is completely out of the way for the hitch, so a trailer installed with the bagger is not a problem. After use, the window will likely turn yellow or green. When using the hose on the deck at high power, will clean it off a bit, but I usually open the tube and wipe it out with wet paper towels, so it does not stain over time. I have cleaned mine dozens of times, which is still crystal clear. For storage, the bagger only adds a bit of width, and some height above the seat back, but the capacity of the bags is excellent, and they hold more than the bags on my old toro timecutter-z, and with less clogging. I store my ego lawnmower in an area that is not sealed or closed so I was worried when it gets windy that this cover would blow off a little bit on the lawnmower, but it does stay on really tight. I’m really impressed and it covers up my 42 inch rider extremely well. I have other zero turn lawnmowers and for the 52 inch I bought a lawnmower cover for it that I had to look a long time to find I believed would work well. While that one has straps to tighten it down when it’s windy, that one will lift off to a certain extent, so that’s why I think this ego cover is superior to that one. ... show more

Basically, what the mulch plug does is it covers up the chute where the cut grass, or leaves, would get thrown out of. This causes the cut material to get cut again by the mower blades, thus mulching. I used this with the EGO ZTM mower. The mulch plug is easy enough to put on, or take off, in a couple of minutes. Moved from CA to TN in 2021. I have a 1-acre yard. In 2021 when all of the leaves fell, I figured I should bag them up. That took a large number of bags, was a lot of work, and was basically a dumb idea. In 2022 I decided to mow over the leaves using the mulch plug. In fairness to me, I couldn't find the EGO mulch plug in 2021. Mowing over the leaves works even better than I thought it would as it really chops them up into very small pieces. The only real negative is when you contain what is being mowed inside the blade area it sends up a lot of dust in the air. I make sure to wear goggles, a hood or hat, and some type of mask so I'm not breathing in the dust. I would also suggest mowing over the leaves when they first drop so that you don't end up with massive piles that you can't get the mower to go over. With large piles the leaves would just be pushed around. In that case, I raised up the blade and went over them a few times and then lowered the blade back down and went over them again. The concept of the mulch plug is simple, but it works and at least for me was much better than trying to bag leaves. ... show more
