This product works, extremely well. I never, ever write reviews for anything, but in this case I feel like I need to. My house has a bad problem with fruit flies during the summer months. And, this year, it's bad. Not only that, but now regular house flies joined in, and I had a ton of them flying around too. It was HORRIBLE. Bug spray helped, but it only helped in the moment. I could spray them all I wanted, and sure, it would kill them right then and there. But, when I sprayed hotspots, they'd all get startled and fly away. I'd kill lots, but plenty would also escape. And, after that, they wouldn't come back to that area for a while. But, in time, they would. I tried more than just bug spray, too. I tried many things to get rid of this problem. I tried using those apple shaped things, the ones you put the liquid inside that attracts and kills them. The first time I used it, it worked somewhat well. But, after a few days, and after enough of them were dead inside of the liquid, they stopped working. I kept getting new ones, but every time I used a brand new one, it seemed to be less and less effective. I tried the vinegar and dish soap thing, too. Pretty much the same outcome as the apple shaped things, except even worse results. Less attraction, less killing. I tried the nuclear option one time as well: bug bombing my home last summer. I purchased a few of those bug bomb canisters. I had to cover tons of surfaces in my home so the chemicals didn't leak into it, and then I had to cage up my cat and leave my home for most of the day, coming back myself once to open up windows to air the place out for a few hours. This absolutely did the job and killed 99.9% of them. However, a few things I dislike about this method. One, having to vacate my home for most of the day. Two, having to cover up all the surfaces of my home and be extra cautious when dealing with the entire situation. Three, the fact that it released a spray/vapor everywhere, hence why everything needed to be covered up. And four, but the worst part: They came back. It must not have killed them ALL, because in a few weeks, the problem was back. Unfortunate. If only there was a product that was efficient, kept working for a long period of time, didn't require me to leave my home or be extremely cautious when using it, didn't scare them away so they would go to the same places just to die, and was quick and easy to setup. Oh wait, there is. And this is it. This bug issue is a big problem. Well, it WAS a big problem. I say "was" because, thanks to this product, it isn't anymore. I had three main hotspots in my home: one in the kitchen by the sink, one in my living room in front of the couch on my coffee table, and one in my gaming room on my shelves. I ordered the five pack. The first two, I hung in my kitchen. I have a large kitchen, so I hung one at each end, one of which directly above the center of the hotspot there. The third and fourth went into my living room. This room is also quite large, hence why I used two. One, I hung from the light fixture that lights the room. The second, I hung right next to the coffee table a few feet above it. The fifth and final strip, I hung off of a nail coming out of the top shelf in the gaming room. Please note that the only reason I used two in any room was because these were decently big rooms. Be safe, don't stuff two or three of these things into your small bedroom. After the first 24 hours, I absolutely noticed a reduction in their numbers. After 72 hours (three days), however, they're gone. 99.9% of them. There's still the extremely occasional fly here and there, but at this point it's rare. And it's becoming more and more rare as time ticks on. Considering these last up to 4 months, I can rest assured the problem is gone. Like I said, my home only has this issue in the hot months, which these will be more than enough to cover. Normally, when I turned on my faucet, I'd see a bunch of fruit flies get startled and swarm around. I knew these things were the real deal the first time I turned on the faucet and saw 0 movement. Every time since then, I've looked as hard as I could for any movement when I turned on the faucet, and nothing. This is where the problem was the absolute worst, and now there's literally none of them there. This product is not a REPELLENT. And that's a GREAT thing. Why? Well, if you're using this product, chances are, the bugs are already inside of your home. Using a repellent would not fix the problem. They aren't going to open the front door and leave your house because of a repelling chemical, they're just going to find somewhere else in your home to migrate to. With this product, the flies don't even know there's a chemical there. They think everything is normal, they behave totally normally. And that's what we want. The fruit flies still love my drain. But, if they go there, they die. Quickly, too. They won't just scatter and go somewhere else, they'll simply die. Bug spray will kill them too, but it will also make that area unattractive to them, so they move, and eventually return to that same area once the spray has worn off. So you spray again, and again. No more, not with this product. Hang it where you see the most of them, and that's it. I've had the product for a week now. I can absolutely attest to everything this product claims to do, except for how long it claims to last, which is 120 days (4 months). I haven't had the product long enough to confirm that claim for myself firsthand, but considering every other claim the product made I've seen to be true firsthand, I feel pretty confident on trusting this final claim. I can also report that I've had no ill effects to my own health. Nor has my cat, and I've watched him like a hawk. Interestingly, the same chemical used in this is used in flea collars for cats as well, which is right under their nose and mouth, so I'm not to worried about this product and the small amount it releases into the air in a time-released, controlled fashion. Like an air freshener. So yeah, I'd highly recommend this product. I'm just one of MANY reviewers who has claimed that they tried everything but THIS is the product that worked. And it's true. Note: I would try your best not to expose the strips to heat. Exposing the strips to heat can make the chemical release faster and in larger quantities, which is not good. I'd try to keep it out of direct, hot sunlight, and away from any other potential heat source. Cheers and good luck!

I absolutely love this product. My place was loaded with fruit flys and I felt like every day it was getting worse. I just got this product the other day. I have a large 2 bedroom with a large livingroom, so I used 4. Today I haven't seen any flys, they are mostly all dead.

"You could mention easy to use, value for money or longevity" -- Amazon's suggestion for this product review Per the back of the product package: "If this product is used within homes, use only in closets, wardrobes and cupboards." More generally, it can be used in "garbage rooms, lavatories, floor drains (to sewer), entries and vestibules, offices, locker rooms, machine rooms, boiler rooms, utility equipment, garages, mop closets and product storage (after canning and bottling)." "This product may be used in non-food/feed areas... DO NOT use in areas where people will be for an extended period of time." Seems like it's probably not a good idea to use this product in the home. What if I go for broke and put it next to a window that I like to keep open at least sometimes? "Place... away from windows.... [as] drafts, weather and other conditions may affect performance." The above quotes are from the back of the package. As for the novella we are given to read on this product's Amazon page, buried near the end is this handy little warning: this product should not be used in areas where people spend more than 15 hours per day. You mean, areas like my freaking HOME?? That's a deceptively important warning that I totally failed to notice before buying this product. The active ingredient in this product is an insecticide called dichlorvos. According to Wikipedia, dichlorvos is a neurotoxin that also damages insect DNA. That seems to be how it kills insects, but it has been shown to affect higher-order animals, as well, including humans. "Acute and prolonged exposure may lead to death, genotoxic, neurological, reproductive, carcinogenic, immunological, hepatic, renal, respiratory, metabolic, dermal and other systemic effects. Its toxicity is due to the ability of the compound to inhibit acetyl cholinesterase at cholinergic junction of the nervous system." ("Dichlorvos toxicity: A public health perspective", Henshaw Uchechi Okoroiwu and Iwara Arikpo Iwara). Prevalent in urban waterways, each tenfold increase in organophosphate metabolites (like dichlorvos) is associated with a 50-70% increase in the odds of ADHD in children. (Wikipedia) The DHHS says it may reasonably be anticipated to be a carcinogen. The EPA has revised the acceptable use parameters for dichlorvos down multiple times, and the EU has banned it outright. The Washington State Department of Health issued a warning about the chemical called "Pest Strips with Dichlorvos." They wrote, "Organophosphate pest strips (strips that contain dichlorvos) are legal, but we are concerned they are making people sick, especially if they are not used according to their directions. We are working... to improve warnings... and make the restrictions about occupied areas more clear on the product label. The strips should not be used in general living or sleeping areas. "The label also says the pest strips can be used in vacation homes, cabins, and mobile homes - but only if “unoccupied for more than four months immediately following placement of pest strip."" (end quote) I have two young children in my home. Thank goodness that I am assiduous about reading the instructions that manufacturers provide on their products, or I would have exposed my family to a carcinogenic neurotoxin that was never supposed to be in home in the first place. And I'm not the only one. Reading the Q&A's, it's evident that many people who have bought this product are completely oblivious to its risks, meaning they did NOT read the manufacturer's instructions. For example, somebody (apparently trying to piece together how a product with so many restrictions could possibly be meant for home use) asked if it would be effective throughout the home if placed in a closet. One after another, other customers responded, "Why would you do that? I put it here and there and everywhere in my home! It's great!" I can't blame them. We've gotten used to a corporate world that looks out for our safety -- if only at the behest of the federal government. Like others, I bought this product assuming it was safe for my home simply because it's on Amazon. I assumed, without even thinking about it, that if a commercial/industrial-use product with only a handful of safe residential applications were to be sold on Amazon, this would be made very clear in the product title alone, not to mention the subsequent text and images. Other sellers are careful not to mislead and disappoint buyers about much less serious things. We should all know better than to totally cede all responsibility for our own health and welfare to regulators and businesses. I hope somebody reads this and buys something else.

I don't know if this works or not. I started seeing gnats in my home office for some reason (no food/liquids in there), so I bought this and put it on my window sill. A few days later, and it appears to be gnat-free. I was hoping to see a bunch of black dots all over it, but haven't seen anything. To be fair, I also put out some vinegar in a bowl but don't see anything in that either. Not seeing as many gnats though, so I don't know what the heck is going on.

All you need to fight fruit flies, house flies, beetles, mosquitoes, spiders, gnats and other insects like cockroaches, silverfish and earwigs etc. we tried home remedies, bought fruit fly traps nothing worked! We put these up as soon as we got them we put them up one in each room and within 12 hours there was less than half of the fruit flies and we literally watched house flies drop dead all over! We didn’t even realize we had beetles until we saw dead ones, spider here and there and by the third day we saw 1 or 2 fruit flies and by day four I am ecstatic to say NO FLIES!!!!! We should have started with these!! They are kind of expensive however can you put a price on feeling secure that you have no bugs?! We also have 2 cats, 2 dogs and a bird and five humans and these are up all day everyday and no one got sick or poisoned!!! Fruit flies are vicious and spread like wild fire and I am so thrilled to say the buck stops here!!! Pay the money and get these!! We fought fruit flies for months and now we have none!

We had a gnat infestation that no amount of apple cider vinegar mixture would could hold up to even though the mixture did help. We also had a VEVO plug in at the same time and it was just not enough to complete wipe away the gnats in Texas summer weather. Hanging these around downstairs of our home cleared the gnats in no more than a week. Worked great and still have not seen one gnat or even fly for that matter in our home at all. Definitely recommend to purchase these.
