I love Frigidaire, but as most things these days - they just don't make things like they used to? I hope the company isn't succumbing to planned obsolescence. Just 2 1/2 months beyond the one year manufacturer's warranty, the control panel button for fan mode would not respond in manual or remote. Fortunately- its operating in LOW so I can use it but pressing on panel button or using remote doesn't respond. The fan and compressor are working great, but the electronics malfunction is a disappointment. I did do resets to no avail. Seems to be a control panel malfunction. I didn't buy the extended warranty. I live in a rural remote area and the closest possible service 'might' be an hour + away. Alternative is to purchase a new control panel and DIY. Live and Learn-BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY! Maybe keep shipping box if one has storage room too although; it is 103 degrees and shipping it off for repair right now would also be a bummer. ... show more

I bought two of these, an 8,000 BTU and a 6,000 BTU. Pay attention to the square footage of the room. The 8,000 BTU unit is in my kitchen window and on very hot days it struggles to cool my kitchen and living room which combined have more than the 350 square feet the model is rated for. I should have bought the 10,000 BTU model, but most days it is fine. Evenings, mornings and nights it cools my open floor plan kitchen and living room quite well. During the heat of the afternoon when the temperature is over 90F outside it's not enough, but it certainly helps and most of the time it cools my entire two bedroom apartment. The 6,000 BTU model keeps my 168 square foot office front bedroom very cool even on the hottest days. It is rated for 250 square feet. The electronic controls are alright and the remotes work pretty well. Both units are plugged into smart plugs which turn them off at night. The electronic controls stay set even after being turned off for several hours. They are relatively quiet for window unit ACs and keep my apartment cool. ... show more

This unit blows nice cold air if you set the temperature low enough. But at first it was on ECO, and I thought it didn't work at all, the compressor would not come on, until I shut ECO off (after reading this in another review, Thx reviewers!) and put on just 'COOL' It's bright white, not off white like many of them, in case that's an issue for you. I have central air, but I like to sleep CRYPT COLD, and can't do that for one room, so I can turn the central up or off at night, and only cool my bedroom. I had a fairly new 5000 btu unit, but it didn't cut it, despite the room only being 9X12!!! If this one holds up, I think it's just what I needed. I'll hand it 5 stars because I know about the ECO secret, but I hope others find out. ... show more

    • Air blows very cold, is very loud, looks very nice, eco mode very stupid, very good unit

On an 80 degree day I cranked it down to 68 to see what the air temp would be. I measured the temps between 39 and 45 blowing out of the thing and it was down right chilly! Wayyyy chillier than any of my previous units over my lifetime. It's pretty loud, but honestly it's a good white noise loud. The noise tells you it's working. When the compressor kicks on it's LOUD but pretty usual and routine. I find eco mode stupid. Every time I turn it on it defualt to being in eco mode making me turn it off. Some people like it, not me. It makes the entire unit turn off and on as it cools over the course of a few minutes, which is jarring on an audio level vs it always humming away. The air temp itself will also be in the mid 60s vs the ice cold ones I mentioned before. At first I thought that was as cold as it would get, but once I pressed Eco to disable it, the temps radically dropped into awesomeness. This thing almost gets TOO cold at times it's amazing after mowing the lawn. Overall this thing is worth it's weight in gold and I'd gladly buy another. The remote is pretty cool but honestly I haven't used it that much. I use it in a room that doesn't get central air so even though it's partially supplemented it's pretty well entirely cooled by this beast. ... show more

I needed a larger window AC unit I had a 5000 BTU & was too weak the 10,000 units are too big to fit in my window this just fit medium noise , really cools well decently priced.
