  • Fantastic Friday Frenzy
I have to say, I was really on the fence about this game before buying it. From all the footage I had seen, I was so excited and thought it was a really great, simple concept. However, there was a lot of negative buzz about bugs and glitches. I had this in my cart for a long time because I didn't want to spend the money, but at one point I decided to give it a shot. Friday the 13th: The Game is incredibly fun and pretty terrifying. This game takes you in control of either a counselor running and fighting for your life or a blood-thirsty Jason. A lot of people had said that they thought the game was really one-sided, but I think it has since balanced well. Jason is really good, but he is beatable if you work as a team and try to escape before (a) everyone else is dead or (b) he gets his rage ability. The game itself is really simple: online 20-minute matches of 7 counselors and 1 Jason. There are a bunch of maps and things change up each time. Many weapons and items and a few different escape methods. It sounds like it would get boring, but surprisingly it doesn't. Enough seems to change every match that it seems fresh. Despite always looting for needed items, there's always suspense and I can honestly say I've never been bored. This game is a full release, but it is still being updated. There definitely are some bugs with Jason being able to grab you from a short distance and characters moving through doors, but overall it's pretty stable. The online connectivity can be a pain because it relies on a host to 'own' a session - if they leave for whatever reason, it closes. I wouldn't recommend this is you don't have or intend to pick-up PSplus because the offline content isn't really enough yet (I think there is more to come still). Overall, this is a great game and I love to play it. For a long time, I was ignoring my other games to play Overwatch; this game managed to pull me out of that and simultaneously start a new addiction. I think the most impressive thing about this game is that it was started/funded through Kickstarter. The makers are true fans of the series and they designed the game to give the fans what they wanted. ... show more

  • Its Friday (the 13th) I'm in love!!!
Edit: 1-9-17 still love the game but noticed hosts quitting left and right can make the game frustrating, but that's an issues with the users not the game. Wish the company could take away stuff for willingly leaving a game and time lost for the ppl trying to rank up. Only reason I think there are so many negative reviews are when the game first came out it was super buggy. Assuming the ppl probably never came back to update reviews. In any event I have to say this is the most accurate depiction of the movie translated to a game that I've ever seen. Is it glitchy? Yes, but it's not awful and the game is entertaining enough to look past. You get perks for the counselors in an attempt to level the playing field, but let's be fair, you don't have much of a chance with Jason on your ass. Each counselor gets their own attributes and you can use perks to offset their weaknesses or add to their strengths. There are 5 levels of each perk and they range too much to say from car speed to melee damage or fear resistance. Playing as Jason is awesome most of the time. He can be a bit frustrating, but he usually pulls through. Overall between the original score from the movies, the variety of kills you can buy and perform (which are very cinematic btw) makes this game very much like playing a movie. Each round is unique and communication is ideal to beat Jason but can be done without. I think if they never improved upon the franchise this game would serve it justice. The one thing I will say I wish they could work on is hit detection as it can be a bit frustrating, but perhaps they did this to add to the intensity and realism of not landing every blow due to fear or Jason's mannerisms being a bit clunky since he's dead and one track minded. As a huge fan of the series I'm mostly satisfied. Also they just added single player offline so you don't need a ps+ subscription. You can work on your skills and earn xp here to upgrade. Hope this helped someone. ... show more

  • FINALLY
This game is absolutely awesome. I followed along for quite a while watching other gamers play online before buying this. The graphics while watching seemed really grainy and bad. Not on this disc! The graphics are really cool and clear. I took one star off because there is no single play at this time when there should be, especially if you're going to make a disc for PS4. The main issues which I am deducting another star is the constant "disconnect" you get halfway to almost all the way through a game. This will have you swearing and throwing the controller. Also is the issue of the host quitting in PSNetwork. There is no other host assigned so if the host decides to put on his onesies and its time for ni nite, you are out of luck. I changed my review today 1/27/18, this game ROCKS even with all the glitches which really aren't that bad and kind of amusing. New content keeps rolling out and next will be a new map and new Jason this Tuesday! I play a lot offline as Jason which hones my skills. LOVE this game ... show more

  • Never go on impulse !
I just got the game last night . I was excited like a little kid at a toy store. Yes, I admit that I should of read the description of the game . I was hoping for this game to have a story mode campaign! Nope!! I got suckered into buying ps plus ! I don’t play on line ! I’m an old school gamer from the days ! This has made me very angry When this game came out , I was strongly under the impression that once this game came out with the hard copy , the game was going to have these options ! It doesn’t!! Come on I Watch Friday the 13th movies as a kid and when the game came out for Nintendo you would think by now 20 plus years later you will make it convenient for players to make up for the horrible game that came out back then! On line is more geared for the newer generation. What a waste of money ! For both the game and ps plus ! This is what happens when you do things on impulse! Now for the game aspect there’s some curiosity play value , graphics are decent , but the mechanics are somewhat wacky . If you’re into this type of newer generation gameplay , then this is the game for you . Not for me . I gave it to solid stars for efforts . ... show more

  • Online, fun horror game
I’m having fun with this game so far. I played as Jason for the first time yesterday and I was entertained that they have Pamela Vorhees (his mother) talking to Jason during his attacks. It was entertaining. Anyway, the game is fun and challenging and they give Jason his normal limitations which evens the odds. If you like horror genres, you’ll like this game. It’s a simple horror game (compared to Silent Hill, the Evil Within, etc) because you already know the plot (kill the camp counselors at Camp Crystal Lake). It’s online and you play with ten strangers (unless you have some friends willing to play horror games (I don’t), but they also have an offline version where you are Jason only (good for a tutorial before going online). ... show more

  • The biggest disappointment in a video game EVER!!
Let me start off with I’m not sure if there was anyone more excited for this game than me! I watched it’s progress through the beta phase and was so stoked to get it!! My wife got it for me for Christmas this year and let’s just say after trying to play it from Christmas to MLK day without ever being able to LOG ON I had enough! I sent it back for a full refund without ever having the opportunity to play it. Because it relies on logging on to a live environment to interact with other plays I never was able to get in to play. Biggest waste of money ever. It wouldn’t be so frustrating if you could just play it in single player mode against the “computer” but that’s not even an option with this game. Don’t buy it! ... show more

  • My favorite game of 2017!
This game is my favorite game of 2017! The graphics are great and this game is great to play alone or with friends, There are many ways to survive and escape and it’s just fun and scary in general, there is just so much to do and the maps are identical to the movies! Also for all the people saying they didn’t know it didn’t have single player mode, on the features and details no where does it say that it has single player mode yet and it’s obvious this game is online if it literally says 1v7 multiplayer, also before you wasted your money you could have read the questions and answers, people answered questions about campaign mode so before bashing this game you could have done research lol ... show more
