My wife has ordered these 3 or 4 times. Here are her comments: Good News: I love these candles. I order them for the color which is a nice pink, darker than a baby pink. I love using them in spring, early summer and Valentine's Day. They work very well in votive holders that I purchase at Michael's and Hobby Lobby. The glass holders are snug and protect the candles from drafts. I get 10 - 12 hours before needing to be replaced. Bad News: They are advertised as being rose scented and they do smell lovely in the box. However, once out of the box, there is no scent. Although I love the fragrance, I purchase them only for the color and size. ... show more

These candles have a nice cinnamon smell and burn well. I wish they would burn a little longer, but the price was right. Packaging wasn’t great, box was broken and candles were loose in box, but not that big a deal. Would buy again

    • When burning there is no French vanilla smell at all! There is no smell at all. Period

The manufacturer of these candles must be confused about what’s meant by French vanilla smell. The manufacturer/seller obviously thinks the customer just wants to smell the candles when the box is open. You do smell French vanilla when you first open the box. You think OK nice aroma. At that point, you believe you have a French vanilla scented candles. But you only have the scent BEFORE you burn the candles. When the candles are burning, you smell absolutely nothing. Nothing‼️ There is no scent‼️ Good bad or indifferent. Zero scent‼️ These are “unscented” candles that seem to have been sprayed with a vanilla-like scent that you smell when you open the box. If you think you’re buying Santa a candle that you will smell when burning, you will be sorely disappointed. I’m not a competitor, just an Amazon customer that got suckered into buying these unscented candle. I said, unscented candles!!! And to boot, they make very little light when burning. These are very good for the money. Long burning when used in the proper voltive containers. Vanilla sent is quite pleasant. I strongly recommend this product.I orderd a 2nd box of these. They are that good.

They barely have a flame and they do not burn correctly the wick burns straight down and leaves half of the candle unused. They do smell wonderful but what a mess to clean after you light it I tried 2 even tho it was a mess so I tried one on a small plate and it also burned incorrectly and burned itself out after 15 mins ... show more

The wick burns down too quickly, and the flame is drowned in the melted wax. I even cut a deep V in the side before I lit them, but the wax stops it up and the flame goes out…again. Wish I hadn’t bought 72 of the darn things. Will throw most of them away!

I was gifted a ROOT "American made candle" which smells amazing and has a long-standing (I haven't lit yet) scent. Just an amazing scent, beautifully made candle which I wanted more - one for each room. So I purchased through a vendor from Amazon which I thought I was getting ROOT Made in America candles. NOT. Not only did it not say ROOT, which I really thought I was buying and bought because of "free shipping" PRIME, I went through Amazon. Big mistake. First the packaging was flimsy and a few candles were broken and out of the box so it was a mess when I opened the package. No BIGGIE, I was looking forward to putting these in each room. NO SCENT WHATSOEVER, just another candle which you can buy at 99 cents store. Looks like the ones I have, the color but NO SCENT - which were in the plastic package thrown together - so I should have smelled something. NOTHING ... I do not recommend. Just go to the ROOT website and get the real thing. You will have to pay for shipping, which is pricey, but you'll get the real thing.
