I'm a big fan of Pickleball Central's Mystery Boxes, so I've tried lots of paddles. I like them lightweight, without a lot of "pop," because I'm heavy handed and I'm more in need of control than power. Prior to buying the Franklin, I'd been playing with a Vulcan, which I liked, but it was time to try something new. The grip on this paddle is on the smaller side, 4.25 inches, which is just right for me. I don't have small hands, but I don't want to hold something that feels like a tennis racket either. I started playing with it a couple of weeks ago, and I've seen an improvement in my game. My angled shots are sharper and more precise, and I've gained just a little more power for smashing, without feeling like I'm knocking it out of the park on those deep baseline shots. I'm a 3.0 player who's been playing for a couple of years. I'm a rec player, weekends and the occasional after work pickup game. I love the grit on the face of the paddle, although I'm not to the level where I'm putting tons of spin on my shots. I have noticed an improvement in the speed of my serve, which was already my strong suit. This paddle is a good deal at $100, so if you're looking to upgrade but not ready for a Selkirk, give this one a try. ... show more

Paddle delaminated internally. Sounds "Tinny", poor response. I returned paddle to Franklin Sports for refund (June 20, 2023), but have not received a refund to my Amazon account, or otherwise from Franklin Sports. I will not purchase anything from Franklin Sports again. Advise that you do the same.

    • A great paddle for control, but understand how to take care of it

This paddle has a grit on the surface like fine sandpaper. You’ll need to preserve that grit as long as you can. Don’t wash the surface! Live with the battle scars. It’s a very lightweight paddle so it will be more fragile than others on the market. Avoid banging it on the court.
