Description

Franklin Sports is continuing to raise the bar for competitive pickleball by introducing the all new C45 Carbon Fiber Pickleball Paddle. Featuring a 14mm thick PowerFlex polymer core, this pro-design paddle features an elongated 5.7" inch handle with 4.3" inch handle circumference (weight range 7.6 - 7.9oz). The C45 is a hybrid pickleball paddle that offers a multitude of different technologies, giving players a combination of supreme control and full power on the court. The C45 is constructed with a double-thermoformed unibody frame. This process is exceptional because it helps to fully enhance the structural integrity of the paddle while reducing vibration to a degree that sets it apart from competitor paddles. Each paddle is constructed with a large inner foam channel that allows the C45 to stay structurally sound while also keeping the polymer core intact to preserve long-lasting premium performance! Players will feel the incredible pop coming from the paddle but also feel fully in control. The carbon fiber surface layer is applied as a 45 degree peel ply texture which provides a superior amount of grit and spin right off the surface, giving players an incredible amount of power and speed right off the paddle. This process maximizes grip and unlocks spin potential so players can control the additional core power without sacrificing precision. The C45 pickleball paddle has been approved by both USA Pickleball and the United Pickleball Association for competitive play. We've taken our paddle engineering to new heights, and the results speak for themselves. If you’re ready to enhance your game, be sure to grab the C45 today and we'll see you on the court!

  • One of the best all around gen3 paddles on the market today.
Size: Dynasty - 14mm Color: Red
I've been using a Joola Pro 4 perseus 14mm for a while, but managed to break 2 of them in only 1 month each. The early c45s seemed to have no grit, but these now have a ton of grit. This paddle might not hit as hard as the joola, but i would still say it is a power paddle. No issues putting shape/spin on the ball, putting the ball away, dinking/control, etc. This is definitely one of the best well rounded - do everything - paddle. They come in decently lightweight, mine was around 7.85oz. which leaves room to add weight if you wish, but out of the box it is already completely playable. ... show more

  • Great control for a power paddle
Size: Dynasty - 14mm Color: Red
Very good quality paddle. The spin is upper echelon. The control is nice for a power paddle. I like that it’s an elongated with 7.6” width. The handle length is perfect for me as I hit primarily one handed backhand drives but still can fit two on the handle. I recommend adding 0.5g/inch tungsten tape to help better the feel and increase stability. ... show more

  • Great High Performance Control Paddle
Size: Dynasty - 16mm Color: Mint
This is a great paddle and will probably become my new favorite. I currently play with a Selkirk Amped Control and these two play very similarly, but I think the Franklin Dynasty has a slight advantage (at least for me). First of all, the size, shape, and feel are very similar. You will notice from the picture that the Franklin has a slightly narrower throat, and it takes that extra space and makes the entire paddle slightly wider. It is not really noticeable for either. The loss in the throat is not a big deal and the gain on the width is minimal. There are a few other differences though. First, the Franklin has a metal frame. I am sure this will eventually get scuffed up, but for now, it feels a little more solid because of it. That also adds a little weight and while weight may vary, for me, this paddle came in about 0.6 ounces heavier than the amped paddle. I personally like that because it feels like it can give me a little more power even with a control paddle. The handle is also slightly wider, but noticeably more grippy compared to the amped. As for the surface, both surfaces have a nice grit, but I also have to give the advantage here to the Franklin. The T700 carbon fiber surface allows for a little more spin on the ball. Like other carbon fiber surfaces, this does get dirty, while the amped paddle stays clean. When playing, this is definitely still a control paddle. If you want to stay at the baseline and hammer the ball, this is not the paddle for you. It is a great paddle for coming to the kitchen and helps to slow the game down. As a player that has some power, I like this paddle and would recommend it over the amped paddle. ... show more

  • Plays well with some added weight
Size: Hybrid - 14mm Color: Blue
The Franklin C45 is a solid paddle choice for someone looking for a power oriented paddle with decent power, good pop, and good maneuverability. This paddle comes in very light, although mine came in above the average weights I’ve heard of at 7.7oz. It has some pretty good grit on the face compared to many of the more recent paddles I have tested. The handle on this paddle is excellent, with no soft foam in the handle and nicely defined bevels. The diameter is a little on the smaller side, but that can be adjusted with additional overgrips by adding a Hesacore grip if you prefer something larger. In stock form this paddle (no weight added) this paddle plays just ok. The very light build sacrifices power, stability, and the sweet spot is probably below average. Right out of the package the paddle felt a little stiff which is what I expected from a 14mm paddle. However, with added weight and some break-in time this paddle plays very differently. After lead tape, protective edge tape, and overgrip my paddle is now up to 8.8oz. My weight setup included .5gram/inch tape from 1 inch above the grip to an inch past the start of the top bend in each side. I added some additional 1 gram/inch tape from the same starting point up to about 3 o’clock. With the added weight it is still pretty maneuverable. With the weight and some break-in time the paddle now feels surprisingly soft for a 14mm paddle. It feels like there is some pretty decent dwell time on the paddle when you hit the ball now. Spin: With the gritty face and decent dwell time I found it pretty easy to generate spin and shape my shots as desired. You do feel like there is some pocketing of the ball on the paddle face. Control: With the added weight this paddle feels pretty easy for me to control. But keep in mind that I’ve been playing with power paddles since the first Gen 3 Joola hit the market last year. The sweet spot is about average, but there is a noticeable dead area in the lower portion of the paddle which you shouldn’t normally be hitting. You’ll know when that happens though. I added some extra weight down low on the paddle and am currently testing to see if that helps or not. I really like the surprisingly soft feel for a 14mm paddle. Power & Pop: Power with this paddle is decent. It is noticeably less than the current Pro 4 Joola, but is still good enough to lean into the power paddle category. Pop is very good and provides good firepower for quick flicks and counters at the net. The Franklin C45 14mm has a nice blend of good power, very good pop, while maintaining good maneuverability. It is dual approved (USAP and UPA-A certified) so it would be suitable for any tournament player. This paddle also has a full year warranty which is not so common in Pickleball these days. Overall, it is a pretty good choice for someone wanting to get into a power paddle and who is willing to add weight to the paddle to get the most out of it. ... show more
