I just got my new Frabill net today and I haven't had a chance to use it yet. Seems sturdy and all that. My review is about the box and shipping. For some odd reason, Amazon decided to ship this USPS, which normally is fine. In this case the box was so massive, it wouldn't fit in the mail carrier truck so I received a ticket to pick it up at the post office in 2 or more days. So much for speedy delivery. After I waited in line for an hour risking my life, I finally got the box. This thing is massive! The box would not fit in my car no matter how I tried. I ended up pulling the net out of the box which fit easily in the car and wrestling and beating the box into submission so I could get it in my car. I'm sure the people witnessing me punch and kick this box got a good laugh. When I got home I measured the box at 74 inches long and the net was a meer 50.5 inches long collapsed. You will never be able to lose anything out of this net. It is sturdy and has a large, deep net capable of handling 55 lb black drum. The handle conveniently slides over the net for ease of transport or storage. Best net we've ever had!

    • The net itself is not deep enough for saltwater fish (large flounder, striped bass, mahi)

It's a well made net, but it desperately needs to be deeper for ocean fishing. Its good for sea bass and maybe tautog, or bay fish. I find it collapses too easily as well, often unintentionally.

Buyer beware with this product. It is easy to use but the durability is lacking. My wife was going to net a fish I had on the line. When she put the net in the water and got the fish in the net, the whole net fell off of the handle pole. That caused me to lose the fish because the line broke and then the net sunk into 100 feet of water. So lost fish and lost net. When investigating after I saw that the detent ball that holds the net in place when extended was gone. That broke causing the net fall off. I emailed Frabil with the issue and have not heard anything back from them. I am beyond disappointed that my email has been ignored. I will no longer buy any Frabil products again because of poor customer service and the fact they do not stand behind their products apparently. ... show more

I do fishing charters in Southwest Florida this net has worked magnificently. I've landed sharks, Mackerel, Barracudas ect. ect. hundreds of fish in this net and it is in great shape and does a great job the handle helps lift bigger fish out of the water and the fish are easier to take out of the net the hooks don't get caught in it and it's easier on the fish! I was reading the reviews about the net coming off the end of the handle , you've got to lock into place! also it "breaking", I could break it if I really wanted to but I don't and that hasn't happened, Great net you'll be happy. ... show more
