  • I will buy again.
Size: 1.5 Cubic Feet (Pack of 1)
I decided to try growing tomatoes in flower pots. This is a first for me. I don't grow anything...not even plants or flowers. I did a little research and it seemed Fox Farm is among the best potting soil. I was pleasantly surprised when I had tremendous success with my tomatoes. I will continue to use this soil, as I plan to try growing new things this summer. ... show more

  • All Good
Size: 1.5 Cubic Feet (Pack of 1)
I chose Fox Farm soil (anew choice), for repotting my Boston Fern and for a leggy Monstera houseplant. After reading the reviews, Fox Farm soil seemed to be a good choice for houseplants to grow in and for taking new starts from a plant, aka cuttings. Both my Fern and Monstera plants prefer slightly acidic soil and so I tested the new soil’s PH and it’s at 7.0. The PH level is another detail needed to consider for my new little plant fledglings (cuttings from the Monstera). Even so I still repotted Fern and will soon be repotting the Monstera plant and it’s cuttings that need a 5.5 - 6.5 PH. The Fern needs a 6.5 - 6.8 PH, so it was close enough to be repotted in the new soil. The Fern’s fronds, (leaves), were always dropping right in the soil area. Pine trees do that too if the soil isn’t acidic enough they will drop pine needle debris to cover the ground, around the base, to lower the PH where they are growing. So this time, my houseplants will have a good restart using an upgraded quality soil (Fox Farm) paired with more attention to their PH balance. I will still use the soil for my Monstera plant and cuttings after amending with aluminum sulfate to change the PH down to 5.5 - 6.5. The soil is all good and I enjoy the process in taking care of houseplants and choosing a quality houseplant soil. When repotting Fern, I noticed the soil was fluffy and had its own perlite and organic material in it. I added more perlite and tea from tea bags to the dirt. There were no signs of pest. It watered well and drained well. I’m looking forward to seeing new fronds this spring from our Fern houseplant. ... show more

  • I think FoxFarm is the best potting soil brand out there now
Size: 1.5 Cubic Feet (Pack of 1)
I'm not sure what happened to other potting soil brand companies, even some of the old good supposedly organic brands are selling what seems to be barely composted sawdust and twigs as potting soil. The other brands are so hot, the plants when transplanted seem to wilt rather than thrive. FoxFarm potting soils smell good. They don't smell like human waste. The potting soil feels good. Loose, airy, but with substance (if that makes sense). Better yet, my plants LOVE it. Especially the veggies. Have a bunch of container veggies going and they are pumping out the goodies thanks to the FoxFarm Ocean Forest Potting soil. The veggies in other supposedly well regarded brands---did very poorly. Next planting season I'll just go with Fox Farm and not waste my time on the others. ... show more

  • Revived 20 year old plant
Size: 1.5 Cubic Feet (Pack of 1)
When my grandpa died about 20 years ago, my dad's company sent us this ivy vine thing in a pot as a consolation gift. My mom has been taking care of it and it has literally somehow survived for 20 years without a single speck of fertilizer or anything besides tap water every day. How? I have no idea. Magic, maybe. But my mom recently approached me and asked me to find some quality potting mix to top off the container. I was thinking: sure, how bad could it be? I look in the pot, and there is literally nothing but a mass of roots in there and maybe two inches of soil. The roots were literally climbing out of the pot. Listen. I was so stressed out over adding potting mix to a pot. What if I killed the plant?? What if it went into shock or there were bug eggs or something in the mix? My mom sees it as a reminder of her father and if I somehow made it shrivel up when 20 years of hard tap water couldn't kill it, it would actually haunt me for life. This potting mix was the highest rated on nearly every site I consulted, and when it was delivered, I carefully added maybe two inches of dirt to top it off. Just to see if it would make the plant sickly or something. The next time I saw it, the plant was literally a completely different color. Rather than light yellow streaked leaves, the entire thing was green, lush, and it had new growth poking out of the pot and leaf nubs sprouting out of new portions of the vine. It even started growing on a nearby chair!! What is in this stuff?! 5,000 stars for not killing an incredibly sentimental plant and somehow completely reviving it within a week. And no worries, I have since added a normal amount of soil to the pot and got a bottle of alaskan fish fertilizer that my mom can dilute and use to fertilize it once a month or so. Our new problem is that it's currently taking over a corner of my mom's dining room. P.S. I'm thinking Amazon should probably remove "Flavor" as a rating category for this product lol. But I did rate it five stars for being delicious! (for plants.) ... show more

  • Quality soil
Size: 1.5 Cubic Feet (Pack of 1)
First off have some different strains growing. I have noticed that this soil verses other soil your plants thrive and flourish. Verses other soils not as good. My plants were dying or just not really growing big. I switched them to this soil and the roots thickened and they started growing fast. I love the quality of this soil. It’s sucks the cost but it’s because the ingredients on it. If you made your own blend with similar ingredients you would spend a lot this is high quality I won’t use anything else now. I also am in I’ve with the cal-mal, and different plant foods by this company. It’s worth it and you will notice the difference. Someone else told me to get it I saw cost and was like hard ummmm no. But after using it there is no way I would get anything else. Okay I am done writing the book here. ... show more
