Fox Farm Ocean Forest is a great growing medium, I’ve used it for years and will continue to do so...but next time I will be more careful. The photo looks just like the 38.5 quart bag I usually buy for the same price, but this one holds only 12 quarts, making it 3x more expensive than my local grow store. THIS IS MY OWN FAULT FOR NOT PAYING ATTENTION - but don’t let it happen to you! Happy Farming! ... show more

My boyfriend's brother and I are doing planted aquariums using the Walstad method and this product was suggested as an alternative to the organic miracle grow (which is impossible to find now). I can say, without a doubt, the soil is incredible stuff. My plants are flushing bright green and growing like weeds in comparison to my other planted tank that uses only flora max, whose plants aren't growing much at all (sans the vals, they're crazy). Not to forget, the soil does NOT cloud the water!!! It hasn't messed up the water parameters either. All I can say is that this compost rocks as an aquarium soil substrate to grow happy, healthy plants. ......... I'm a new herb gardener and I'm glad I tried this Fox Farm potting soil. I planted 5 different herb seeds and, compared to the soil disk that came with my herb kit, the seeds I planted on the Fox Farm potting soil germinated more and they appear to be bigger/healthier! I have used this product, before and never had this problem but, when I cut open the first bag a huge swarm of gnats flew out...now my house is inundated with the horrible things and they are multiplying faster than I can get rid of them. I've tried several bug sprays, but nothing seems to work. I really don't know what to do, next. ... show more

Excellent quality soil and NO BUGS - I became an apartment gardener since the pandemic, and I’ve bought diff types of soil on Amazon but a lot of them had bugs, especially Miracle Gro (I guess you get what you pay for - fungus gnats and mushrooms). I did some google searches for “best soil” and this brand kept popping up so I tried it. This is quality soil, organic and varied but well draining. Some other soils you’ll find rocks and bark to stuff the bag but not this one. Don’t pay attention to reviewers who say their bags had tiny holes - these are ppl who don’t understand that is literally the way soil bags are made... ... show more

Nothing bad to say about Foxfarm at all. I love this stuff. Just one small problem with my order this time. There was a noticeable difference between the two bags as far as the weight goes. So i weighted them both and there is a 2lb difference. Im not sure who i contact about this problem but i sure would like the other part of my bag please! ... show more
