Just what I was looking for, a lightweight, simple, useful bowl. Most bowls I found were thick, heavyweight, fancy, with other features about them. I didn’t want any of that. I like this one to wash and soak grains, beans and for other things.

I bought 3 of this bowl as well as the 4 of the 8-quart model. I am coming back now to buy more of this size because I'm finding myself using it all the time. My favorite feature of the bowl is that it's really easy to throw in the dishwasher. Because of the way the rim is made, there's no water that collects anywhere on the bowl. (Rust is not an issue.) They're simple to store -- same-size bowls nest into one another easily and each one adds less than 1/4" in height to the stack. I have a family of 5 so I thought I'd use the 8-qt bowls a lot more. However, this size bowl is constantly in use and the larger ones are rarely used. You can mix 2 boxes of cake mix in this size with room to spare. I am also going to get a few of the 1.25 quart bowls for when I'm making smaller batches of foods, but I think this size will be my default choice most of the time. The ONLY issue I had with this bowl: It was difficult to get it truly clean before I used it the first time. I ran it through the dishwasher and it had a whitish film on it. I hand-washed and scrubbed it and discovered a graying residue (metal "stuff," I'm guessing) on the washcloth. So before you mix in it, take extra precautions to make sure it's completely clean. You'll need to use elbow grease to accomplish this because the dishwasher just isn't enough. The whitish film re-appeared the first 3 times it went through the dishwasher -- thankfully there was no more gray residue -- but a quick rub with a towel cleaned it off. Since then it's washed perfectly every time. If this were a more expensive Oxo product I would have docked a star, but because it didn't last long and because the product was so inexpensive and perfect in every other way, I decided all 5 stars were deserved. ... show more

Works just fine for mixing AND for serving a big salad. But be forewarned: I don't know what kind of substance they use to affix the paper sticker to the bottom of the bowls with, but you are NOT going to get the glue off. I tried soaking, scrubbing with a Scotch-brite pad, vegetable oil, scrubbing with Kosher salt, and NOTHING will remove it. Unless I invest in a sand-blaster, it's there for the duration. ... show more

so many uses. nice enough to set on the dinner table with a big salad inside. good for a big bag of chips or popcorn, and the next smaller size good for dip or salsa. won't tip over - great balance and flat bottom. rim of the bowl easy to grip - not thick or sharp. dishwasher does not dull the finish or go dark. these are the only mixing bowls I buy. it's great to find a quality product then stick with it so I don't waste money trying something else. these bowls regularly go on sale and that is when I buy. would gift a set to anyone, guy or gal. ... show more

I was ISO extra large "individual" stainless steel salad bowls that I could toss a salad in without everything flying out of the bowl and then actually eat from the bowl itself. These fit the bill exactly. Although they are considered mixing bowls, I find that they might be too light weight and not strong enough to hold up to some heavy mixing activity. However, for the purpose of eating a well tossed salad, these are perfect. Specifically, I like to put a carry out (ex: Cosi or Panera) salad into a large bowl and then use one of the two salad dressing packages provided to toss into the salad - I find that when well tossed, I get good dressing coverage by only using half of what was provided. I test drove two bowls and found them to be perfect, so I came back and bought two more as to have a set of 4 over-sized individual salad bowls. They wash nicely in the dishwasher or by hand - great product for the price for my particular application. ... show more

My bowl came quick and it was great for the first few days but then I noticed it was getting dents on the bottom corners. I did not hit it hard on anything so I'm confused on how these dents came to be. I guess it's a result of it being light weight. I wish it was more sturdy but it does the job considering it's price. ... show more
