I have been selling handmade items online for more than 15 years and I WISH this portable studio was available back then - it would have saved me so much time, energy, and money. Over the years I have watched dozens of youtube videos on how to "DIY" a photo light studio (insert heavy sigh of regret here) and spent countless hours trying to make one on my own. Unfortunately most of the time my photos were not great due to poor lighting - I always ended up frustrated, and always had at least two huge bins filled with my lights, backdrops, homemade filters and not-so-sturdy stands, My DIY studios took up tons of space!. Recently I came across this photo box and and I am very, VERY, pleased with it. I've used it more than a dozen times so far, and each time the set up gets faster (no more than 15 minutes). I love that it's large enough to accommodate my larger items (Heck I can even photograph my 25 pound cat, in a handmade cat bad, in this studio - trust me when I tell you, it's very roomy!. ) I also like that it's portable and everything fits back in one bag (a tight fit, but it works) and I can stow it away easily when not in use. I use it for product photography as well as stop motion videos ,and so far so good. The only thing I've struggled with is the provided plastic back drops (huge sheets of plastic). They don't really stay put in their pockets, so I just use electrical tape to attach to the back brace each time - not a big deal at all. I'm still learning/testing the lighting (it's very adjustable) that is best for my products, but over all I am very happy that I bought this photo box - and at a great price too! (Especially when you factor in the hours and hours of frustration you can avoid if you are trying to DIY something). ... show more

    • It works pretty well once you get used to it.
I have a smaller light box that I can set up in a few minutes. I needed a bigger box, so I got this one. It wasn’t too hard to set up, although I some issues with the zippers blowing out on the corner. I just kept messing around with it until it stretched out enough, and then the zippers worked fine. I also switched the background (white) to go over, not under the rod in the back bottom edge. After that, it all worked fine. Because of what I was shooting (wine bottles), I used my own lighting to reduce the glare and reflection. After that, everything worked great. ... show more

    • Size matters!
Assemble in the room where you will use the box because it's with is larger then a standard door. The assembly notice isn't allways very clear and leads to error. If you install a background (plastic) sheet as descibed you won't be able to close the box with teh zipper. The trick is to fix the sheet with the velcro attachments and leave it rolled up until the box is closed. Brightness is generaly OK but in some cases insufficient but that can be compensted on the camera. If you want to photograph a shiny object beware of the reflection even when using the diffusian cloth. Overall it's big but good value for the money spent. ... show more

This product does have useful moments. However, you'll run into issues when you're trying to take a photo of an item that has reflective properties. The photo will capture the reflective foil from the sides (left and right) and the metal poles. I wish the whole cover was just white film. Also, there is no way to remove the front cover so if you take pictures with it, it will capture the opening depending on the angle. The cover was provided, however installing it was a bit hassle. I eventually had to place white boards on the sides that covers the poles and the reflective foils. The reflective foils gives the reflective object some leather type texture. ... show more

I planned to use the photo box to take pictures of items I'm selling on eBay, a better picture = higher selling price typically. This more than does the job, it's huge (36.75" H x W X D) so it has plenty of space inside for bigger items. The 2 light strips are adjustable and can be placed just about anywhere in the box. I like the fact that it comes with 4 different background colors. It's easy enough to put together and to take back apart after use for storage (super helpful given its size). To start, the packaging is organized, no problems with any of the contents. Setting up is not hard, but it is big! Pretty bright and I do like the various angles a shot can be taken from. I alsonlike that it comes with its own backdrops to use right away. Be mindful when storing. This is a problem I have with softboxes in general is, the breakdown and set up of them. I was impressed by the quality of this kit. Everything you need to produce professional type product photos. Nice carrying case for mobility. Seems durable and fairly easy to set up. Several color backgrounds to choose from and the LED lighting is bright. This is my first photo box and I believe I will be able to take my photography to a different level using this kit. Definitely recommend it for getting your product photography off the ground. Perfect size to be able to photo several items. Only drawback so far is I would like to see more detailed instructions. You must have some ability to figure out how to piece things together. If you aren't good at that, you may want to get a smaller kit. ... show more

I really wanted to like it but it is so hard to assemble and disassemble. I used it once and then was not able to put it back together :(
