This is my second time buying these locks. I’ve used them for indoor and outdoor use. While using them outdoor they’ve held up really well, no rust or discoloration. Setting your own code is really simple, just unscrew the bottom plate, slide the button over and set your code.

    • Great for day use at a locker
Super easy to set your own combination but for that reason, I wouldn't use it in an unsecured located for a long period of time. You only have to unscrew the bottom to reset. However, it works great for me at the Y where it's only for an hour or two and lots of people coming and going.

Previously ordered different lock for gym use. After a few months, it would not open when I was trying to get dressed. Was always concerned about the "loose" feel of the numbers as they rotated. The entire mechanism felt cheap. Oddly, went 1 number off and it opened, then I purchased this one. Difference is night and day - this one is not loose at all. I bought this to use on the lockers in my gym. It is a good quality lock and works great! The numbers are very easy to see without my reading glasses and the black background keeps the bright lights in the locker room from causing a glare. Combination is very easy to change. Numbers are very easy to turn. IMPORTANT - I see some reviews that state the lock suddenly wouldn't unlock. I thought this had happened to me too, but I realized it was my mistake. The numbers are open to both sides, so if you turn it around it looks the same as the front, but the numbers will be lined up differently. So if you were to set the numbers on the front side, but then accidentally get it turned around and try to unlock it from the back side, it won't be the same code. I hope that makes sense. The way I tell the front from the back is that one side says "Fortlocks" and the other does not. So when you are unlocking it, make sure you are on the same side that you set the code on. I'm attaching two pictures of front and back without changing the numbers. You can see that the numbers on the front are different than the ones on the back. I'm not sure if that is what happened to others, but I sure thought it had happened to me until I realized it was turned around! I have actually done that a few times since and each time there is that momentary feeling of "oh no!" Then I realize I am on the wrong side. So don't break out those bolt cutters until you make sure you're on the correct side! ... show more

I’ve been through many comhibation locks and thus is tte best so far. Tge only way to set tge combination is by unscrewing a plate in the bottom and moving a switch. It’s impossible to accidentally reset it—a common problem with Masterlock and Brinks. The dials are very positive turning and won’t shift on their own. Well made. ... show more
