This welder is great, I have no complaints. I have welded form 1/16 in all the way to 1/4th inch steel with this and it does its job well. This unit is heavy and seems well constructed. The mig gun and ground clamp has a very good length so I don't have to keep adjusting where the welder is. The duty cycle on this unit is also very good, for the amount of welding that I did, it never stopped to cool down. This plugs into a regular household plug so that is why I initially bought this unit. This is the perfect welder for any garage project! This welder is very powerful,smooth wire feed as well I'm using it more then my hobart 140 just seems to have more power, Update welder has intermittent feed issues contacted support they were extremely hopeful and sent out a replacement speed control board this company is excellent and the customer service is the best ... show more

Easy to set up, very high quality. Only problem is that it blew the 20 amp dedicated breaker in my garage after a bead length of about 2"(see picture) could be my panel. Welded up some plate came out good. Looking forward to using it more. I used a cheap small Hobart 75/25 tank and some .030 wire and it rocks! ... show more

This welder works great! Comes with regulator valve. Welds thin metal (autobody panels)with the flux core just fine, great penetration on thick metals as well.

    • Great Tool After Beating the Verticle Learning Curve
This Forney Welder has been one of my more challenging projects since attempting to prove The Binomial Theorem, I have yet to prove The Binomial Theorem; however, I managed to do things with metal that I never thought of much less actually completed. After inadvertently destroying several pounds of different typed of metal, I actually fixed several pieces that were previously broken and only needed that one spot weld. During the past week I even took in a neighbor's broken item that only welding would fix. It works well and is a handy tool to have around the house. It is too lightweight to use in a commercial environment or even on a full 8 hour schedule every day. The main problem I have with the unit is having to reread the instructions before tackling another job. I also believe a higher amperage rating would be required for long uses. That statement is from the voice of the uninformed, but inquisitive user. My 'work-central location' or as many call them, garages, needs one addition: a dedicated, centrally located electrical ou8tlet. I either blew the circuit with overloads or had a bunch of unplugged electrical devices just waiting to be re-plugged. I have not discussed this with an electrician and after doing so, he might have another course of action. Or he could do as another technician did and just say, you are too old to be fooling around with these kinds of helpers. It must be nice to be so independent that a simple wiring job is not worth the invoice. If I were an experienced user and I am heading in that direction, this has the makings of a 5 star unit, but with the minor problems I encountered, I'll stick with the 4 for now.
