I had purchased this hardware cloth with the intention to convert a side of one of my coops into a large window to help the birds be more comfortable with the summer heat. Those plans for scrapped due to a fire breaking out in the forest near me, and my helpers had to evacuate. A few weeks later, I had a bear get into my Bantam coop. It was devastating. After the first attack, I used this to go over weak spots that I couldn't screw boards into. The next night, the bear got in again to the only area I didn't reinforce. At 11pm in the dark, my friend and I put boards over the hole, but I wasn't satisfied. I used a portion of this hardware cloth and every screw and washer I could find to secure it. The next morning I went out and you could see where the bear had attempted to rip the hardware cloth. One little hole was created and it barely stretched. using to replace wood eave vent system that blocks too much air flow (in FL). this keeps out animals and permits full air flow used this way keeping the house much cooler.

they out an out lied about dia of wire , [retired tool maker] .7mm after coating ,, 23ga is .64mm ,, this is 23ga with coating to bring up tp .7mm , .7mm falls between 20 an 22ga ,, 21ga after coating , these people know they lied, i did not guess ,i measured it,, they even pur a picture of caliber showing 1.5mm ,that would be about 16ga after coating, but it is .7mm after coating // lie in size stated an lie in picture , ... show more

This stuff is horrible. It looks pretty going on, but within one week begins to rust. Then last night it did NOT hold up to predictors. It was ripped to shreds like terry cloth by something trying to get to my chickens. I am so upset. I had carefully and tediously secured it well to the chicken coop. This hardware cloth did not hold up. I feel cheated and misled by this company’s claims. They have cost me big time not only the value of the cloth but the value of my chickens and the coop. ... show more

See photo. This item (1/4” hardware cloth) on the left, brand name 16 ga coated Fencer Wire 1/2x1” on the right. This item is NOT 16 gauge, nor is it any near 16 gauge! For the price, I knew it might be a “too good to be true” listing and took the gamble. I can still use it (hopefully) as I don’t have time to send it back and reorder something else. I will update my review after I use the product, but I will not change my 1-star rating as the seller completely misrepresented their product. ... show more

Seller lists in the title 16 gauge. Down under size and description it says 19 gauge which I did not notice until after it arrived. False advertising!
