  • Great weeder for clearing out an area of loose packed dirt.
This weeder is great for clearing out an area of weeds. I had some dead grass, clover, mint, and various other weeds in an area I unfortunately let go wild this past year. This rake worked well to take the area down to dirt. The teeth are solid and made of solid steel, the cutting blade seems to slice through some rooted stuff, and the whole process was easy and effective. I worked through a 20x5 foot area easily in not much time at all. Mind you, this area was a garden previously, so the soil wasn't very compact. I took a star off as I had some other expectations in being able to weed in the lawn. This thing is not very easy to just rake through the grass. I have some area of chickweed that I was hoping to be able to just snag the runners with the teeth. The angle of the head makes that hard. At a 45-degree angle to the ground, the head is parallel to the ground. This is great for just decimating the area. I was hoping to just run the teeth through the grass in a more upward position, more of dethatching it. The angle on the head makes that hard and there is no way to adjust the angle. The other factor that effected my rating was that it is solid at first, but with use it gets a bit wobbly from the threads loosening. I have the silicon washers installed but I still found myself having to adjust it occasionally. I might add some thread lock or something to see if that helps. i really don't intend to use this in any other configuration than full size. Overall, I am happy to have this tool. It was a nice value and made very solid (even the threads are solid, just a pity the loosen). This has a place as a weeder/hoe/digging tool and does it wall. It was also very easy to clean once done. ... show more

  • Great tool for overgrown weeds
I have yet to be able to put this to the test of tackling a garden full of weeds due to when I ordered it, but for the patches of weeds that I've taken it to, it's been fantastic. It was simple and easy to assemble and while I was initially weary that it involved bolting the head of the rake together, they include all the necessary tools and hardware so it really was easy and I got it together in just a couple minutes. It feels really solid in your hands and while it's not heavy, it's got a good heft to it so it feels easy to control. It's also got a great cushy grip which is really nice, though I'm curious how that will hold up with time. It tackles whole areas of weeds in seconds, which is exactly what I was hoping for. It's very sharp and slices through most anything, though anything tougher and woodier gets pulled up with everything else. I normally hand-pull everything which is exhausting, and I'm so excited to have this for the entirety of the warmer seasons next year. The only downside is that it doesn't usually pull up the roots of course, but it still gets some, and I'd rather go out there more often for way, WAY less time each time vs sitting out there hand-pulling for hours! ... show more

  • Solidly built and very sharp, easy and effective weeding tool
This makes cleaning up around tight spots super easy. You can just lightly scuffle it back and forth and the blade and teeth take clumps of weeds and grass out like nothing. It's the most effortless weeding tool I've ever used. I especially appreciated using it along the edges of the concrete step, and around the downspout, and next to the foundation. It's no trouble at all to get right up to the edge very efficiently and effectively. It was easy to assemble and was more heavy-duty than I thought it would be. It is very sharp and I think it would be a good idea to wear long pants and work boots when you use it. Wouldn't want to bump your ankle with those points. We also used it to scrape out some weeds that were low-growing in the packed sand and gravel parking area. It scrapes them right out and we raked it all up, it looks so much better with very little time or effort. This is a worthwhile garden tool that I'm sure will get a lot of use next season. I wish I had had this earlier in the year, it's ten times more effective than the hoe I had been using. ... show more

  • Good, but with a couple issues
I was able to assemble this rake in just a few minutes, and was outside taking out all my rage on the weeds in my yard. I noticed that when I received the rake and unboxed it, the smushy rubber grip in the middle of the handle was torn a bit, which is disappointing but not enough to ruin it for me. My sole complaint with this rake is that the handle on top is not attached to the rake, and when you really get going, it will slide off, which I could see being a bit of a safety hazard. I will be fixing this by gluing that handle in place, and if that doesn't hold, I will take it off and wrap the handle in another grippy material myself. That said, this bad boy TEARS through weeds, and it is SO satisfying to rip them out of the ground with this tool. ... show more

  • sturdy to help with manual yard labor
This rake comes with three thick, separate pole pieces that are screwed in together. Then there is the "head" of the rake and the blades. The head is also screwed in and the blades are attached with 4 screws. Technically, there are two separate blades, the pointy one and the "razor" blade, which can be installed together or separately if you so choose. I like using them together so one digs and the other cuts at the same time. There are two rubber hand grips on the pole, which are comfortable (bottom one) and grippy (top one). I've hit a couple of rocks with this so far, judging by the sparks, but no deformation of the teeth on this rake yet. The pole also feels strong and is unlikely to bend with your raking force. It may however slightly torque and therefore unscrew a little when using it, but that just requires a quick twist and perhaps a slight adjustment in the raking technique to prevent reoccurrence. When trying to remove tall grass and weeds, it takes repeated strikes at the same area to first remove the plant and then get to the soil to start turning it, but you do get there in the end. I would not recommend using this to pull out roots when you get snagged on those. Overall, a solid tool to remove weeds and open up your soil. ... show more
