This hard plastic case is matte textured so it shouldn't show fingerprints or light scratches. I think it'll do a decent job of light duty protection. There's no impact resistance added by using this case. Both halves snap into place pretty easily and they're held in place but these really tiny plastic micro clips. I think I'll have to revisit this review after 6-12 months and see how those clips are holding up. Pay attention to the bottom rear set of clips, mine didn't want to sit flush with the fan vent until I snapped it in place starting from one side.

I accidentally ordered two (2) of the Macaset for MacBook Pro 14" cases, one in Matte Clear and the other Crystal Midnight. I didn't want to open both of these since they were free Vine items so I opened the Crystal Midnight and am pleased on many levels: it is easy to install; snaps into place and does not impede the operation of the MacBook Pro or the various ports; looks great and will certainly reduce the risk of scratches. I will need to see whether debris collects under the case, similar to iPhone cases, but the iPhone is usually in a pants pocket where lint and other debris are an issue. I recommend this product especially if you have a tendency to be rough with your computers.
