Pros: Great suction power compared to other less recognized brands; Ability to be stored vertically is a neat space-saving design; Generally intuitive & easy to use, especially for those who have used vacuum sealers in the past. Cons: Strange chemical smell: after repeated use on merely 3 small bags, I noticed a strange, unpleasant chemical smell emanating from the device. It vaguely resembled a piece of burnt rubber that has been treated with some kind of chemical. I suspect it's likely from the heating element that seals the vacuum bags. I hope this is just a normal "new device" smell that goes away after it's been used several times, since I just received & started using this device, I'll have to wait & see. Defaults to dry setting every time: another minor flaw is that the device defaults to the "dry" setting every time the sealing lid is opened/closed. Since I had to package several portions of "wet" foods, I had to press the setting button to switch to "moist" every time. It would be more convenient if this device could simply stay on the setting that I choose, & let me change the setting at my convenience. Overall, this is a worthy replacement for my older FoodSaver model, & I plan to keep it short of some unforeseen circumstance.

My son gave me a FoodSaver many years ago...think 18-20...and it was great! A little heavier but the lid fastened down with latches and the suction was strong. I used it till it literally died on me so I wanted another FoodSaver since I knew the brand and hoped they might have kept the quality. Well...not exactly. The suction is not as strong as my old one, I have to remind myself to choose a mode (my old one did not have a 'dry' mode which i don't imagine I will use) and, as other reviewers have noted and I read with skepticism, the locking really isn't easy to achieve. At least not for me as I have to literally stand on my tiptoes and press down with all my weight to get the latching mechanism to engage! Otherwise, it seems to work well enough for my needs but I doubt that it will last anywhere near as long as my old one. I wanted to be thrilled with it but, sadly, not thrilled. Just happy enough to not send it back.

Great deal, it's a brand new machine sold as "used Good condition" for $21.00, worth it, it was never used, perfect condition, all items included, no scratches, it was a stock box, not the colored, it was a little ripped, but didn't affect the machine. It works perfect, and I'm very happy that I didn't have to pay $100 for a "perfect" box. I have a nesco with all the fancy features, this one is easy to store on the fly, the only thing it doesn't have is a "marinate" function, that kinda sucks, but I ended up getting a hand held, I don't like dragging out the nesco when I want to seal something or marinate quickly

My husband convinced me to get a food saver since we buy in bulk a lot and being empty nesters we don’t go through food like we used to so after lots of research I decided to go with this FoodSaver in white since the price is right and reviews online sounded good. My friend has a different one and I always said “no not for me” I was happy with freezer bags but let me tell you this machine is easier than a ziploc freezer bag! I purchased the quart & gallon size bags I found on Amazon that were a off brand but had great reviews and just finished sealing over 100lbs of meat (hamburger, pork chops & porterhouses) WOW that was actually fun! This machine is going to be so handy once gardening season starts as well. Such a nice seal & easy to use.

I watched the videos for this product, read the reviews and decided to purchase anyway. I am so glad I did. It is so easy to use and powerful. Great sale price. It's so hard cooking for one! I waste so much food. I know this is going to save me money on my groceries. You can only eat out so much, and I am thoroughly tired of eating fast food and take out. So much sodium and processed junk! Now I can divide and store smaller portions without fear that they will go bad, and/or freezer burn! If you follow the instructions, this works great! it is a little hard to "click" shut, but at least I know I have a good seal. Comes with a sealer roll and 5 gallon bags and 5 quart size bags! It is light weight and easy to store too! I don't have to leave it out on the counter all the time! Extremely happy with my purchase. 4.5 stars! I only took off a little because it is a little hard to click shut. It's totally worth it!

I've had a FoodSaver sealer that is a good 15+ years old, which I THOUGHT worked great. My husband and I used it to seal and freeze/refrigerate bulk items. For some time he kept saying "throw that POS away and get a new one!" I would think, it still works, why? I finally caved and bought this, and HOLY COW (I admit, he was right) my old one WAS a P.O.S.!! LOL! This thing is AMAZING!! So much quieter and faster than the old one that is now in the garbage... I had no problem throwing it away after trying this baby and realizing my jaw was hanging open in awe! So nice and slim and takes up less room to store too. I wanted a FoodSaver brand, and the price is fantastic, 1/2 what I paid for the old one all those years ago! Get it!

I bought this because it was slim and stored on its side. It works perfectly! You must push down until you hear a click but it is not hard. Easy to clean and use. No more freeze burn taste!
