I recently purchased a fishing net from Nest Sprout for my fly fishing endeavors, and it has proven to be an excellent addition to my gear. As trout nets go, this one is generously sized. It will hold even the largest of western trout, not to mention the small natives and stocked trout of the eastern United States where I usually fish. The frame and handle are made of aluminum, and the handle folds for easier carrying. Most trout nets have a shorter wooden handle. I'm not sure if the longer aluminum handle adds weight, but I don't think it is any lighter. The netting is rubber, which is the material of choice for catch-and-release fishing. I noticed a line of yellow discoloration on the otherwise clear rubber. It is difficult to photograph, but if you enlarge the accompanying picture, you may be able to see it. Then I discovered the location of the discoloration corresponds with the handle's grip when the handle is folded. Has something in the grip caused the net to become discolored? The grip does not feel oily and there is no other obvious reason the handle should cause a stain. If some chemical has changed the composition of the net, will it weaken it to the point of failure, just when I'm trying to net my PB? The cost of wooden nets can be several times what this aluminum one goes for. Nevertheless, I would avoid this item until the yellow stain problem is resolved.

Compact when needed, and easy to handle. The net isn't a net, it's made of some kind of rubber plastic material. Seems pretty strong. It's a good addition to my fishing gear.

This feels like a sturdy net, handle feels strong and folding/locking mechanism works fine. I've haven't had a net with the rubber material before, supposedly it's easier on the fish and less likely to get tangled. I'm curious how it will hold up, only time will tell I suppose. But at this price point it seems decent.
