Solid bass and a LOT better than some of the other cheap basses I've bought here. The neck is straight, the bone nut is fitted properly, no fret ends or uneven frets. The neck is definitely a PBass shape - wide and thick. Played decent out of the box but needed a setup after new strings. That's normal for any bass. Here's the "aware" part - they use non-standard parts. I replaced the bridge pickup but the cavity isn't standard Jazz Bass dimensions. The replacement pickup would not fit until I did a little routing with a Dremel. I'll be replacing the Split pickup also, I guess I'll find out if it's non-standard too. It's an easy fix if you're used to tweaking guitars, but it may be beyond a beginner. That said, the stock pickups will do the job and the bass has good "bones". It's a worthy first bass guitar. I'd buy this one before any of the other knock-offs.

For some background on me, I have been playing for probably about 20 years. I have owned higher end Fenders, other good quality basses from reputable brands, as well as some lower-end nameless import basses. To start, I just want to say that anybody who gets this bass will likely not be disappointed, especially at the price point. Do not expect it to be of Fender quality, or even the quality of a higher-end Squier. But for what you're paying for this bass, you should find it to be very good for what it is. It is especially good as a mod platform, as long as you know what you're getting. The good: - The pickups sound surprisingly okay. I thought this would be a weak point. - The hardware is also not terrible. It stays in tune well, and I was able to get it set up and intonated pretty easily without much work. - Fit and finish. Paint job is good for the price, nothing seems out of place. - The neck (more on this later). The roasted maple neck feels great on my hands, and there are no pokey fret ends to speak of. The fret ends are better than the last two Fenders that I've purchased. Mine was a little dry though, so you may want to rub some of your preferred guitar neck oil on it. Or not. But maybe. The "maybe good for you, but maybe not" - The neck. So, this will be personal preference, but you should be warned that the nut width is rather large. I haven't measured it, but it feels to me that this is the same nut width as a 50's P-bass, which is a little wider than your average modern P. If you are a beginner or have small hands, you might have some trouble with this. - The neck. Again, personal preference, but the profile of the neck is also absolutely massive. This is definitely a bass that feels like playing a baseball bat. It's chonky. I haven't found it to be a huge hinderance, but of my 5 basses, it undoubtedly has the biggest neck of the bunch, which includes a few other Fender P basses. It feels near identical to a Fender Vintera P Bass w/ a roasted maple neck I sold a year or so back. The bad - This bass is neck heavy. You will get a decent amount of neck dive. The overall weight isn't bad, though. The body is just lightweight, and the neck is decidedly not. I think a wider strap would solve this, but I don't have an extra lying around to test it out. A thin strap only kind of helps. - Electronics. Specifically, the pots. Specifically, the tone pot. There really isn't any range on it. It's basically an on/off switch. That's really it, though. This isn't a bad bass by any stretch. I got mine through Macbids for a nice discount, so maybe if I had spent the full price on it, I might be slightly less high on it. But I don't think so. If this was packaged as a Squier Classic Vibe bass, I probably wouldn't bat an eye at it. TL;DR - Great bass for the money. It has the same neck type as a 50's P bass, so if that's not your thing, you might not like this. Hardware and pickups are decent. Pots kinda suck. Would slap again.

An Eclectic Squire copy from China.. The neck feels old school, the weight feels right, the fretwork is pretty good.. the pickups have plenty of gain and dont sound bad.. The neck is roasted allright, maybe a few hours too long.. i like the natural finish.. some notes are fretting out near the middle, might correct to raise the strings, the action is very low. I was surprised by that, and expected the opposite. I like this bass. It feels natural, the components are good. With a setup it might be a really good playing instrument. I would chose this before an affinity squire, but im funny like that. If you like older squire basses, the kind you dont find new anymore, this just might be for you.. its got that thing going on.. i feel like this came out of a time capsule from 1988, only 5 pounds lighter, which is really nice.. I dont think you could be dissapointed in this for 150$, that much i can safely tell you. Im impressed enough with it. I dont know how QC is going to be on these.. An Interesting piece of wood, she is.. kinda, well.. vintage, solid, old school. A Solid four stars for the money, might be a good project to spend more on.. its a dark horse, you can tell by the well roasted neck. (It is kind of funny, someone did forget to set the timer im afraid.. mine is nice roasted dark brown.. but its all good.. it feels good dry.. im very often angry when i gamble, this one is what makes it ok.. Good job to whomever made this. I can appreciate it, and i wouldnt buy anything on the Amazon top 15 bass list. I really wouldnt, is all cookie cutter stuff. This could age very well. Curious to hear what others might think, I think shes beautiful, in the right light, for a hundred point five bucks, if you dont want an ibanez.. Thing about sweet bass lines, gotta earn em, you cant buy them.. Spend all the money you want, but.. if you dont have much this will do just fine.. thats what im thinking. have no idea how to say the name on headstock, so.. what2call , mine ° • Roast Bass• °. Is her name.. I&i no lie we love this bass a little.. Two weeks later ~ still like this bass . Only Question, if i return and get another maybe the neck may be a little better.. now That is hard to guess * saying as i dont want to return and gamble to me its pretty telling.. it is a dark horse, could be a little better, but could be a lot worse.. Last mention, the tone knob doest do very much, hardly anything at all, albeit tone is very nice, and right about where id like it for motown, blues, etc.. full and rounded, no high hiss or nasely bite, and neither is it flat, just about right. The pups sound a lot like vintage fenders. (Tone control would b nice, my biggest and only real complaint) SO Mine has vanished. is this a warranty condition... (Please?). Dreaming, im sure.. but at least wont cost much to replace. I would like to get another sometime.
