Description

New 5th Generation model. Now with a smooth needle nose foam dispensing tip for easier maintenance. The newly designed 4” narrow plastic dispensing tip allows for more precise foam dispensing in narrow gaps. Attaching an 8” flexible plastic extension tube to the 4” narrow tip nozzle allows foaming in tight spaces and for extended reach. The Foam N' Seal FNS500 is a premium foam dispensing gun designed for professionals in the weatherization of residential and commercial buildings. The FNS500 offers excellent value and has similar or superior features when compared to other foam gun dispenser brands. The FNS500 has been thoroughly field-tested for over a decade and has proven itself to be a dependable foam dispensing gun. It dispenses consistent foam or adhesive every time and features precision control of foam dispensing for filling small gaps, cracks, and voids. It is also ideal for filling door and window door jamb voids. The polyurethane foam dispenser is designed for long life with thicker gauge metal, and quality parts and has a Teflon coated gun body, canister adapter basket, and gun barrel. The internal stainless steel needle rod controlling the flow of foam and check valve is also PTFE coated. We use a custom formulated PTFE to improve resistance to cold flow, reduce wear friction, and increase PTFE adhesion, coating stiffness, and surface hardness. The FNS500 is compatible with most single-component polyurethane foam sealants that use a universal screw-on thread adapter on the top of the foam sealant or adhesive canister. Works with Great Stuff Pro Handi-Foam, Handi-Seal, Touch ‘n Foam, Touch ‘n Seal, Hilti, and Todol insulating foam sealants. 5" extension nozzles are available. Search for B08B1PPWT8. • This is the gun to get!
With this purchase I now have three guns for dispensing foam from canisters. This is the best of the lot, and it cost only $1 more than the cheapest one I have. This gun is all metal. This matters because if you allow the gun to sit too long between uses the first trigger pull will be very difficult. Foam apparently sets up along the shut-off rod or at the very tip and causes the dispensing rod to stick closed. The instructions say that you may reuse the gun with its attached foam canister up to 30 days after its last use. I have gone as long as six months between uses with my other two guns and have not had problems except for the hard trigger pull the first time. It is stiff enough that I am afraid that I might break my plastic gun if I pull hard enough. My solution is to back off the flow control knob and tap the end of the dispensing rod with a small punch. I'm sure that if I continue to do this I will eventually ruin the rod, but that's why I bought this gun - to replace my expensive, plastic, Pageris one. With all metal parts on this gun, I can pull the trigger on this one to get the foam flowing and avoid the extreme measure of using a punch. The plastic Pageris gun is here: Pro Pageris Dispensing Gun This gun will take the following canisters (plus more that have an identical attachment method): * Touch'nSeal (P/N 4004528712) * Great Stuff Pro (P/N 298141) * Handi-Foam (P/N P30115) * Pur Fill (P/N GF01) I cannot comment yet on the effectiveness of the Teflon coating for preventing foam from sticking, but it certainly can't hurt. I always clean the exterior of my guns thoroughly with acetone after each use. If necessary you can unscrew the flow control knob entirely to remove the foam dispensing rod and its spring. This enables you to clean the inside of the gun. Having said that, there should be no reason to require you to clean the inside of the gun if you leave a canister on AT ALL TIMES! If you've emptied one, leave it on until you're ready to install a full one. If you absolutely insist on cleaning the interior of your gun, you can buy a canister of cleaner that's made for the purpose. Each of the brands listed above also sell a cleaner. One brand of cleaner is here: Great Stuff 259205 12-Ounce Gun Cleaner Another note on cleaning: You can remove the uncured foam easily with acetone. Once it's cured it's permanent. I have not yet found any solvent that will dissolve cured foam. (I use the Pur Fill brand.) I disagree with Erich regarding using up a canister. I think his technique may be faulty. When you are dispensing foam you must hold the gun so that the canister is upside down. That is, the gun must be below the level of the canister. This would be the normal way to hold the gun, but sometimes the situation requires some maneuvering to get the foam where you want it. The foam inside the canister is heavier (more dense) than the propellent. The canister does not have a pickup tube to the bottom of the canister, the way a can of spray paint does. If you try to dispense foam while the canister is not on top you will release propellant and not so much foam. If you do this enough you will use up all the propellant and still have unusable foam in the canister. A similar situation arises if you try to use a can of spray paint upside down. I have gone through half a dozen canisters of foam and have never had one fail to empty. This gun comes with a couple of plastic tubes and a couple of plastic nozzles that fit on the end of the dispensing tube. This allows a bit of an extension if needed or a very small opening if you need to get foam inside a very small hole. I haven't used them yet but will keep them handy in case the occasion should arise. Of course you will have to clean them immediately if you want to reuse them. And that is the beauty of this gun and the canisters that support it. You can use a small amount of foam today and do it again tomorrow and next week until you've used it all up. No more do you have to buy a new disposable can of foam for a small job and then buy another can tomorrow. If you need to dispense expanding foam only occasionally this gun/canister system is a great way to do it. This is the highest quality gun I've used and it's sold for a reasonable price. Highly recommended. - Loren Edit: 21 December 2014: I have now had the opportunity to clean set-up foam from the insides of this gun. For anyone who was wondering, you can take this gun completely apart to clean the innards. Use a gun cleaning rod, brushes, and patches to clean the feed tube. Everything else can be scraped clean with a screwdriver or pick. Don't lose the small ball or any other parts that may fall out as you dismantle this gun. Better yet, don't let foam set up inside your gun. This can be avoided if you follow the instructions and NEVER leave the gun without a foam can on it. Even if the can is empty don't remove it until you are ready to replace it. I didn't follow my own advice and within 24 hours the foam was almost completely set up. I have also found that the Teflon coating actually works. Set-up foam will not stick to it and can be removed easily with a fingernail. I disagree with John Sanchez about cleaning the gun every three or four cans. I don't think it's necessary at all unless you allow the foam to set up. I found that my expensive Pageris gun needed cleaning at the same time. I was unable to take that gun apart sufficiently to clean it. I threw it away. Buy this one instead. ... show more

  • Best foam gun I could find and at a reasonable price too.
1st revIew (2018), FIRST MODEL REVISION I've had several foam guns of different brands. After finding that my insulation company uses these almost exclusively, I ordered one for the house. This one just works and works well which is not something I could say about other brands that I've used (e.g. Great Stuff). With the teflon coating, it's easy to clean up and it encourages leftover foam to be left on the gun- this helps prevent the foam from curing inside the gun. 2nd review (2020) Since my 1st review, I've been through the original model of this gun (had full teflon coating), one other gun (was so bad I won't even mention the make) and the current revision of this gun (has a brass tip). While I loved my original model, it had a plastic bearing that didn't clean well. This new model (with the brass tip), I really hated at first. The brass tip was just an unnecessary pain in the a** as it was so hard to keep clean. I found that if you use the plastic tips (comes with a few and these are REALLY easy to clean) along with some silicone mold release spray on the tip, it works MUCH better. So, I'm keeping my five star rating. Hint: For those that were complaining of can leaks as you're installing new cans, I found that after removing old can, there was a plastic piece that would separate from the old can to remain in the opening of the gun. Just make sure you can see the ball bearing in the gun and that the opening is clean before you screw a new can in and it'll prevent most leakage issues. ... show more

  • I liked this for several reasons
I liked this for several reasons: convenience, getting into tight-spaces, being able to use a can of foam more than once. It worked very well last Fall over the course of several weeks. When I tried to use it this Fall, it failed to work. I'm not sure why, because the nozzle seems clear--it appears to be a trigger problem. But it was worth the money to get into tight spaces with that long nose, and not get foam all over the place and one's self, and re-use cans of foam. My advice is to buy it when you are ready to do a thorough insulation job (don't break the job up for later.) Then clean it thoroughly and hope for the best next time you want to use it. ... show more

  • Fantastic gun. A tip
This gun is amazing. Everything being teflon coating makes it a breeze to clean externally. I did use the chemical cleaner afterwards per instruction. We shall see if the internal pathways in fact clean up as well. Foam control is far better than other guns I have used. The plastic extenders do not fit this gun. But I attached larger tubing and it worked very well. Note internal capacity is large. Hence stop foaming before you believe you will be done and replace foam cannister with cleaner. There is still substantial foam within the gun that you can use before the cleaner appears. ... show more

  • Great 'til the First Canister Change
Stuck my first tube of Great Stuff sealant on the gun, and never took it off- lasted nearly a whole year of random projects in a fixer-upper house and never clogged up or anything. Once the tank was empty, took it off and put another on, and left it. First time I went to use it after the swap it's completely clogged. I tried for over an hour to unclog it, squirted acetone into every orifice, and jammed a 12-gauge wire down the nozzle. Finally out of desperation I started trying to unscrew the attachments- the nozzle didn't budge and all and just stripped immediately despite using the appropriate wrench (the nozzle is thin/soft metal, and it just deformed under the wrench) so I tried to unscrew the canister basket and it straight up broke off. It worked great while it worked, but $33 to last through 1 tube of foam is ridiculous. ... show more
